Would You Wear… Tiger Print?

From left: Eva Longoria in London, Thakoon on the runway, Agyness Deyn backstage at Alexander Wang
While leopard print has been ever increasing in popularity, New York Fashion Week has suddenly provided a fresh alternative: tiger print. Agyness Deyn appeared backstage at Alexander Wang’s show rocking the print, while Thakoon gave the look a less literal feel in his runway show, with softer, more watercolor-inspired lines. But is tiger print really wearable?
As with any bold print, it’s important to wear tiger print pieces in a way that won’t overwhelm you. This means utilizing subtle or neutral accessories (particularly when wearing the orange color that tends to accompany this trend), or finding pieces (like Thakoon’s) with a softer, more feminine take on tiger. Tiger print also works well on accent pieces like coats, shoes, or even sunglasses.
Here is a sample outfit incorporating tiger print:

I have to say, I was initially not feeling this trend, but I LOVE the outfit you put together. I would totally wear it!
Mani
I agree with Allison. The initial examples made me want to say no but the outfit makes me want to say yes. I’d have to try it on.

I like Eva Longoria, however im not really a big fan of animal print. I just feel it’s something for me. Congrats to who ever can rock it though!

opps i ment to say i like Eva Longoria’s dress***

I tend to stay away from animal prints for the most part, especially an all-over print. But I really, really like Eva Longoria’s dress for a night out and the Thakoon dress… the water-downed version is something I could actually see myself wearing to class or shopping. Thanks for the great new look!
Isabelle
No. Animal print… no. I can’t like it, I’m sorry.

I love animal print! I love that everything is coming in animal prints now and i love the dress shown above! the flats and tights only make it better!
Mariana
I’m not really a fan of animal print. Funny though, because people really seem to like it, but I guess it’s just not for me. I like it on other people, though. I’ll give you that at least. Sorry.

I would definitely wear it!!! I am a huge fan of animal print, especially leopard. I have a tatto that is leopard print.

Yes, I would definitely wear it! The outfit you put together is perfect. On the other hand, I’m not sure about Eva Longoria’s dress…That long sleeves and plastic look of fabric makes her look older. But if you choose a cute dress – like you did – or something else and it fits you well, why not?
Marisa
I would wear tiger print. But a subtle one like the dress in the sample outfit. I don’t want to look trashy…

If it were black-and-white tiger print on a faux-fur jacket……. maybe.
Otherwise, definitely not. Animal print really isn’t my thing! Flowers, checkers, polka dots I love… but I think I’ll leave the animal prints to leopards and tigers. =P

Stylish. Definately stylish. But ONLY in small doses. I hate when I see people trying to match animal print. “Seriously… Are you blind? That shirt and purse do not even look the same!” Ladies, choose one item and let that be your statement.
…Ahhh anyways I would Def. rock this!

I would wear animal print, as long as what i’m wearing isn’t overwhelming and is paired with something more neutral…I own a zebra print scarf (which I love) as well as leopard print flats so why not tiger print? As long as it can be subtly incorporated into the outfit, I think it looks great :)
Renn
I can’t, I just can’t wear animal prints, they just seem tasteless to me. But I do think that the dress in the outfit you picked out looks sweet :) especially with that cardigan

As with anything, animal print rocks if you wear it right! At first, I wasn’t so crazy about the tiger print trend (or any animal print for that matter, but I finally gave in and bought a super adorable cheetah print cardi) but over Christmas break during those wonderful end-of-the-year sales I bought a dark grey pair of leggings with black tiger stripes on them…for $6. I LOVE them! My favorite way to wear them is with an oversized black cowl neck sweater, black booties, and a hot pink belt cinched around my waist, giving me shape and a much needed pop of color!
Brittany
i LOVE this print. i go to auburn, where our mascot is a tiger. too cliche? maybe. but i would still love to mix this into a gameday outfit!
Aneri
i love your take on it but the trend itself (as shown by the celebrities) is the epitome of tacky! i think the colour of the tiger print softens it and makes it more funky, less cougar.
Jojo
I would definitely wear something like the dress Eva Longoria is wearing, but the typical tiger print? No thanks!

Just wanted to say what a GREAT job College Fashion does when giving examples of outfits. Especially with the tougher trends; you guys show great ideas! And every outfit is complete, accessories included!! :) Thanks so much!

they look great with chiffon

The skirt or that bottom half of the Thakoon dress makes me drool – so pretty and rather calico kitty-like.
Tiger’s my least favourite of animals prints, though :/ If the pattern’s more tiger-print-inspired, id be more likely to wear it than straight on, loud, glitter stripes.
Maxine
Yes yes yes , need to say more?

I love the necklace.. That I would totally wear, any day. Its a great find as it can go with lots of outfits. The outfit above shows off the tiger print in an interesting way so Id be willing to try it on, in a different colour though, say purple..
