Would You Wear… Pink Hair?

The pink hair trend on the runway, Katy Perry, and Dianna Agron

When cool weather returns, our wardrobes tend to revert back to neutrals and earth tones, shunning the bright hues we wore all summer. In fall, it’s tempting to dress in hues of burgundy, black, grey, brown, forest green and deep purple. Even my own friends make fun of me for purchasing yet another grey sweater.

But this season, however, is a little different. Fall 2011 has already been marked by a shift from muted hues to bright, bold colors… with one in particular standing out. That’s right: pink is everywhere right now, from pink pants to our latest fave trend, pink hair. (And what better time to discuss this trend than during Breast Cancer Awareness Month?)

When Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj don a hair color, my head doesn’t even turn. But after spotting some relatively normal celebs following in their candy-colored footsteps, I couldn’t help but take note. Pink hair has been seen on the likes of Sienna Miller, Katy Perry, Dianna Agron, Hayley Williams, and Rachel McAdams. Combined with appearances on the runways and in fashion spreads, one has to wonder if this trend will go from solely a rocker style to normal-chic.

Will you be grabbing the dye anytime soon?

Leave a comment and let us know if you’re into this hair trend, or if you think it’ll be short-lived. Would you wear bright pink hair? (Or maybe just a streak?) Do you think it can be pulled off in real life? Which celebrity look do you like the best?

I wouldn’t have an all-over pink head, but maybe just a streak or two. However, I do LOVE Dianna Agron’s hair.

I’m actually dying a pink streak in my hair today for breast cancer awareness at my college. I’m not totally sure about going all pink though, it seems a little impractical. Katy Perry can pull off anything though :)

I don’t know about a full dye job, but I just got a pink streak and the procedes went to breast cancer research! yay for pink!

I’ve wanted pink or blue hair for years, but I’ve also been working for years, and not at Hot Topic or a tattoo parlor. :/ Maybe if I can at least find extensions at a decent price. I actually found a pack for a couple bucks at a fair Sunday, but they were long and my hair is short and the thought of cutting them…I don’t know why but I couldn’t do it.

I’ve wanted pink hair for like ever! I have dark hair, though, so it would be super high maintenance. I can’t handle dying my hair every couple of weeks just so I don’t have roots…and the grow out would look horrible. If only they had a magic hair-color-changing machine…

I probably wouldn’t dye my whole head pink for professionalism reasons, but Katy Perry really made it look good!

I’ve had pink hair twice and while it’s amazingly fun it’s also a lot of work. There’s so much touch up involved with me hair it’s easier to keep it natural. wouldn’t it be nice if we all had stylists to do our hair for us all the time :)

I had pink hair back in high school, with blonde bangs. It started hot pink and faded into a really pretty bubblegum. I got it immortalized in my driver’s license. It’s always a good conversation starter when I party downtown. :P

Suede is an equal opportunity employer when it comes to color in my hair!!!
Guess what color I will be for the HP-Project Runway Finale Party hosted by Style Coalition??!?!?!?

I could never find the courage in me to colour my whole head pink, but ever since Avril Lavigne put pink streaks on first time, I’ve been secretly dreaming about those :) xoxo

I spent so much time with unnaturally coloured hair in high school, I’m mostly over it now. It’s not really new, it’s just more common in Hollywood . . .

Nooo way! Maybe a legit-looking clip in pink streak though :)

Psh heck yeah. Been there dyed that 4 years ago. It’s a pain to keep up a whole head of pink dye though. After dying my hair blonde then trying to keep it pink and doing touchups, I eventually just did thick highlights on the sides of my head (if you looked at the back of my head it’s almost like a V shape. it hangs very nicely when your hair is down)

I actually got a pink extension in my hair at the beginning of this month on a whim! its so fun and gives a great pop of color :) and I can get it taken out of my hair as easily as removing hair feathers.

Go buy some manic panic from Sally’s. I have a girl at the college I work with ejo dyes her hair funky colors with manic panic on the weekends and then rinses it out for normal days.

Absolutely! I love the pink hair trend, and it being Breast Cancer Awareness month gives you an excuse to go out of your comfort zone and give back if you find a participating salon. I have a pink streak myself in the bottom part of my hair that’s pretty discrete so that it’s not too wild. Definitely a fun look

I think this trend was inspired by model Charlotte Free who came into the fashion scene a few seasons ago. She has bright pink hair and the fashion world seems enamored with her lately :)

I’ve had big pink streaks in my hair for about a year now, and it’s my favorite color to put in my hair because it stays for about 6 months!! (Yes, I know that’s an absurdly long time to wait between colorings. I’m a busy girl!!) I actually had to get rid of them last weekend because I have a Special Occasion in a couple weeks, but after that it’s back to pink streaks!!

As much as I’m sick of hearing about Glee/it’s stars, I really like that hairstyle on Dianna Aggron. But Katy Perry looks better with blue hair than pink.

I have been seriously considering dying my hair a pastel pink for a while now, I’m just not sure if it would be a bit too much with my pixie cut or not. Great article! x

I’ve been wanting to dye the tips of my hair hot pink for years now……

If only my hair wasn’t naturally dark … it would be such a pain to lighten my hair enough for pink to show! Not a big fan of the all-over look, but KP and Diana sure do know how to rock it. I definitely agree that a few streaks or the tips would look great.

I used to have pink hair, but now that I’m job hunting it’s not really an option. I really miss it and still wish I could go back to it. Right now I’m keeping myself content with shades of red.

Hopefully I’ll end up with a job that doesn’t care what hair color I have.

I get the appeal but I think it’s easier to do that in Hollywood than it is in the ‘real world’, especially when you start applying for jobs or doing a presentation during a class. It does not exactly scream ‘take me seriously’, its fun to do it when you’re 14 but when you’re in your twenties it can seem a little tacky in my opinion.

I love unnatural hair colors, but I have dark hair and I’m not willing to bleach it to get that look :( I’ve been thinking of bleaching and coloring just the tips because that’s less of a commitment.

    October 19th, 2011 at 9:37 am

Uh, no. I got past my whole infatuation with unnatural hair colors back in my “punk” wannabe days in middle school. I’m kind of amazed that anyone would do this past the age of 14, unless you’re a celebrity.

I think having an unnatural hair color, even if it is just a streak, is something everyone should at least once. I decided to dye my whole head hot pink my freshman (my hair went about 3 inches past my shoulders) because I figured I wouldn’t get the chance again once I got into my major (education). It was crazy bright, but a whole lot of fun. Only downside is that when I skipped certain classes, professors definitely noticed.

I would definitly wear pink hair. Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry make it look simple and beautiful.

I was given pink hair for a photoshoot my hair stylist did back in March and kept it for months! I’d still have pink hair if it wasn’t for my job. The colour was a ton of fun & I constantly got compliments!

I don’t plan on dyeing my hair pink, but I have had blue in my hair for over a year now. I just recently got blue in my bangs and the entire underside dyed blue. I’ve gotten so many compliments from random strangers, lol. The upkeep is a pain, but my mom said she’d gladly pay for me to get it redyed so that she doesn’t have to help me every six weeks. I plan on keeping the blue as long as feasibly possible.

I have always wanted to dye my hair pink and I soooo regret not doing it. I can’t dye it now because I work in a hopsital and that would be a no no.

Believe it or not, I’ve actually had pink hair! It was supposed to be red, but with my hair being blonde, it turned very, very, very pink! Even though it was during the summer when I had it died, it was the most fun I’ve ever had experimenting with my hair!

I recently dyed my hair hot pink & I love it, because my hair’s short it doesn’t look too ridiculous, some older adults think it looks stupid but I love it :)
