Would You Wear… Pasties?

Summer fashion is always about showing a little skin, but is this new celebrity look taking it waaay too far?
Fashion trendsetter Rihanna stepped out over July 4th weekend wearing star-shaped pasties under a black blazer with nothing else underneath. She paired the look with sequined silver pants and statement earrings, but the pasties were obviously the focus.
Personally, her outfit makes me cringe. While I normally love Rihanna’s style, I can’t imagine what she was thinking when she decided to wear this! Pasties don’t count as clothing in my book, and should NEVER substitute for putting a shirt on. This look is way too revealing and completely unflattering. Even Rihanna (who has a perfect body) can’t pull this off, so there’s no way it would work on a normal person. This one gets a huge thumbs down from me.

Also, since when does one celebrity parading around in next-to-nothing constitute a trend? I thought “trend” implied that more than one person wore the thing within a few days/weeks of one another.
Maybe if you don’t like getting dressed, this is alright. Personally, I think it’s far sexier to keep your parts IN your clothes. The look is only fit for a “clothing optional” party.

definitely not doable in real life… the only way I can see it working is MAYBE at a wild costume party type setting like others said earlier, or you know like in a theatre production or some other art form where that kind of look isn’t innapropriate or trashy.

Funny how I thought pasties were always worn on strippers, women maybe who jump out of cakes at bachelor parties, etc..? Could also look really hot to a b/f, hubby, etc.. if you danced around the house in some pasties and a gstring?
But, out to the family pic-nic? NOPE! WTH was she thinking? I will say, she is from an exotic island so maybe it just isnt as big a deal there. I just dont ever see that looking attractive, and my hubby saw it and first thig out of his mouth was “that is really skanky”. nuff said.

I thought Lady Gaga’s pasties were ‘cool’ (well, something I expect from her, and different … ) with the X’s, but I didn’t assume others would follow suit. Lady Gaga has a unique style that is fairly out there, and I think she can pull stuff like this off, but for other people I think if they want to tape their boobs, that’s fine … just don’t let it show.
As much as I usually love Rihanna’s style, I do NOT like this outfit/style choice … it doesn’t suit her.

First, let me stop laughing. Rihanna is a freaggin HAM, she’ll wear anything but a paper bag… and maybe if Beyonce does it first, she will.
Leave it for the classless celebrities, but normal people should not wear pasties unless their job requires such.

Idk, maybe its cause I’m from LA and I’m used to seeing people walking around town in barely there bikinis and topless…. But i really don’t think it’s “disgusting” or “gross” like some of the girls above me said.
However, I would definitely advice the general public to STAY AWAY from this trend. Not only because the general public does not have the body to pull this off, but also because this is one of those trends that should be left to celebrities… it does not translate to the average person walking down the street.
And no, i personally would NOT wear this.

I’ve actually thought about wearing pasties with a (very)low cut dress when i didn’t have any double sided tape left. But not with the intentions of my boobs saying “hi” to everyone who looks my way. I wanted to wear the pasties as a backup so that i’d know that no one could see my nipple if i bent forward or something like that.
I don’t agree with the pasties-out-in-the-open…not even for a celebrity. You have to draw the line somewhere.

I would not wear this trend but I don’t agree with the comment above that says that this trend would only be good for celebrities because “the general public does not have the body to pull this off.” I just don’t think that because someone is a celebrity means that they have better bodies than the “general public.” I know plenty of people who have way better bodies than some celebrities. Either way I don’t think anyone should wear it in public!

I think eventually, if these revealing trends like crop tops and ripped jeans continue, society will go back to prehistoric style and everyone will end up walking around naked. This is evidently the next step! Urgh, it’s not even thinkable that anyone should walk around wearing these. They’re designed to avoid embarrassment when wearing revealing clothes…not cause embarrassment by revealing everything!!!
