Would You Wear… Bright Lipstick?

One of this spring’s hottest beauty trends is bright lipstick – from neon pink to deep red, the focus is on lips right now. Celebrities like Taylor Momsen, Emma Watson, and Beyonce all seem to love the bright lipstick trend, but I want to know what you think!
Personally, I’m not a huge fan of bright lipstick. I think only works on a few people (perfect skin, classic sense of style a la Gwen Stefani and Dita von Teese), and I am definitely not one of them. I do think it’s a refreshing trend, though – makeup has been all about smokey, dark eyes lately and it’s nice to see something a little different emerge for spring.
What do you think? Would you wear bright lipstick, or is this a beauty trend you’d rather skip? Leave your thoughts and debate this one in the comments section!

I personally would not wear it. I would look way too weird, since everyone I know only see me with bright and/or dark eyeshadow and natural lips.
I do agree it will work on a few people, Gwen Stefani can pull it of. So her thing lol
Arielle
No I wouldn’t. I never liked this look
Missaa
I’ll skip!
Emily
Definitely. I don’t do it as much anymore because I’ve toned my makeup as a whole (trying to get to an 8am class on time got increasingly difficult over the course of the year). I still love the look though.
Hannah
I like it but, I don’t think I would wear it. I think it works on some people but, not everyone.
Chelsey
I would try it, but probably wouldn’t wear it out. I think it would make me look weird.. maybe if I get the courage I’ll go out with it one day

i’m so-so about this. i LOVE how it looks on other people and in magazine editorials but whenever I try it on myself I feel like I look like a clown! i need to try it out some more
Kaitlyn
i don’t think i could pull it off. i’d end up looking like blanche from the golden girls! lol.. it does look good on *certain* ppl though :)
Bryannah
I’d skip it. :]
Taylor Momsen could totally pull it off and look gorgeous. (:
Cable Car Couture
I would totally wear bright lipstick. It looks best on Taylor.
Caitlyn
I’ve always wanted to try it but I always feel foolish and have to take it off. I wish I knew how to make it work!
Julie
I’ve tried but I feel that it doesn’t look that good on me. I’d rather put all the focus in my eyes instead of my mouth.

I love wearing bright lipstick, but I will admit it’s not something for everyday, in terms of maintenance. When I’ve got time, though, I love classic red, hot pink, or lavender, since they provide a nice contrast with my pale hair and dark hair.

This is not a trend for me. I’m asian and my skin is yellow-ish. That and bright lipstick simply don’t match. It makes me look like a clown. But people like Gwen Stefani and Taylor Momsen (with flawless skin and light blond-hair or brunette) can definitely pull it off. :)
Stilist
I already wear bright lipstick, however only when wearing neutral colours.
Caity
I’d do it! I have very fair skin and think I could pull off a bold look for a certain occasion. I’m a fan.
Lyd
Hmm..not a fan of lipstick sorry……
Lindsay
i think its a nice trend but its not really friendly to every skin tone
it has to be for a special occasion that i may wear a daring lip color
Eva
I really like this look on other women.
I am one of those women with light eyes, dark hair and “porcelain” skin can’t seem to look good in anything but ‘natural’. It’s unfortunate, but I’m not a bold personality either, which I believe is a must for such an eccentric trend.
Sophie
well, i really like bright lipstick, and that is red of course, i’ve got fair skin, blue eyes and blonde hair so bright red lipstick works perfectly well!!!
nikki
I onlyy wear red lip stick I’m not going to go all bright I have Olive skin tone brown eyes and brown hair
Tess
I try to wear a little light lipstick every day; it makes you look instantly put-together, even if you’re in jeans and a t-shirt! I only go with reds and warm pinks though. Neon or bright pink stands out too much for the natural look I’m after.
I love this trend and I’m glad to see other people do too!
Erin
If I am going for more of a classic look, I would definitely wear it!
Sid
I’d wear wear wear it! Most of us have those days when we wanna look like Barbie. But I’d wear it like Taylor. Among the three, she did it right. Grunge+bright pink – it adds a nonchalant playfulness.
Jessica
I’m not sure that I would wear it, but Emma Watson looks gorgeous!
Raisa
I’ve been wearing bright lipstick for a while now. I love it! I’m much more comfortable with lipstick than eyeshadow.
Sarah
If i find the “right bright”, then i will try it. I love the way it gives off the classic pin up look.

I totally love the lipstick trend! I have never been a great fan of lipgloss, lipstick looks way more sophisticated and lasts longer. And though a lot of you state that it is ‘not for me’, lipstick can actually work on everyone. It’s all about finding the right tones – as it is with clothing. No-one will state that ‘colour’ doesn’t look good on them, it’s just certain colours that don’t look good. It’s the same with lipstick, basically.

I LOVE it! In the evening I think it would look amazing! Also if its only with dark jeans, white cotton T-shirt and blazer type of jacket! My favorite color are the coral lipsticks..beautiful ones from MAC! But if you put lipstick do NEVER put strong make up on the eyes! I wear absolutely no mascara with lipstick- but i’ve got some long lashes-so if u do just put a light touch of brown or black mascara.

the problem with this trend is that people with smaller lips (i.e. me) look like they just have a bright line where their mouth should be. don’t get me wrong, i love my lips and their shape, but they are too small to be emphasized with colour.
the two keys to making this look work for someone are 1. having lips you are willing to emphasize and 2. the right shade of lipstick for your skin. some people say they have olive or yellowish complexions and that that is the reason they can’t wear this style… there is ALWAYS a shade to match your skin – you just have to find it!

Interesting!
The latest fashion trend in apparels today is the skinny jeans that give you a lean look. However, if you are unable to get into those, you would also be happy to put on those wide legged pants or trousers that are also hot with the fashionistas. When worn with a short narrow top and a slim fit jacket along with high heel shoes, this combination would look cool and give you that much longed for lean look.
Try it out this season!

I love red lipstick. The trick is to keep the eyes natural. Sometimes I leave the house wearing just red lipstick, and it seems to work.
Mani
I’d probably wear this on a girl’s night out, but definitely NOT to class on a regular basis. Maybe I’d do red for an evening out, too. It’s a fun look but you really have to find the right shade of lipstick or else you’ll end up looking clownish. It’s a total hit or miss!
Luisa
The bright pinks are so cute…but I suck at lipstick. Can’t even stand gloss!
Timika
I would definitely rock brightly colored lipstick,If the shade is flattering on me. I like my lip color to make a statement.

The funny thing is, though, is that out of the photos you provided the only ones who look good with it are the ones with the “smokey” or dark eye makeup.
Personally, bright lips only look good if you balance it out with a lot of eye makeup, or else your eyes kind of disappear.
Or maybe it’s just Emma Watson who can’t pull it off.
Faye
Bright lipstick looks awesome in the spring and summer months. Along with colorful clothing, bright lipstick ads more to my face and there’s no need to where a lot of makeup during the day.
emer
i always wear it these days, bright pink lipstick and dark eyes, it looks great on a night out, not really a day time look!!!
Chiara
I love bright lipstick! It makes make up easy on those days where you really don’t feel like doing any.
Robyn
Personally I LOVE a strong red lip. I wear it all of the time, I use red lipstick as more of a lip stain in the day so its not to bright but in the evening I love to go really bold with my lipstick. I always keep my eyes natural with maybe just a thin line above my lashes to give it that really classic 1950’s burlesque look. I think anyone can work bold colors, its just a matter of finding the right shade for you. My favorite lipstick of all time is the m.a.c matte finish lipstick in ‘Russian Red’, its a really bright red with just a hint of cool blue tones in it, it makes your teeth look so white!

I have quite red lips anyways, so I love putting on deep red lipcolour, as it just makes them stand out. Also with my dark hair it goes quite well. The only problem with it is maintenance, as through the day it wears off, and it doesn’t really stay as well as when you do your eyes in the morning, cos you don’t have to worry about them again. But j loom stupid with pale lips anyways, doesn’t suit my colouring, so red lips are the only colour I can go for :)
karen
i like this actually i rarely wear any makeup at all and once in a while if i feel risky ill throw on a bright neon pink lipstick (victorias secret muse lipstick) and i like it my skins very fair and my hairs dark it looks awesome
Cate
I love the trend. My lips are rather dark anyway and my skin’s quite light so nude lips are a total no-go for me. Em’s way with the dark red is perfect for me. It kind of balances my face…
Cherise
I love this trend. I love to wear this on the weekends. I have black hair, dark tan skin and dark brown eyes. I’m more for the cherry red lipstick and a dark hot pink, since any lighter I look ridiculous. I think I only tried this trend is because my lips are huge, and my friends kind of forced me to wear it on a night out, if not for them then I wouldn’t have never tried myself. I loveee it.
