Patio furniture, picnic baskets, and… purses? While wicker may not traditionally be thought of as a celebrity-approved accessory material, it has recently been spotted on big name celebs like Rachel Weisz and Florence Welch. Even Karl Lagerfeld, arguably the most notable trendsetter out there, sent woven straw bags down the runway.

Wicker purses are very summery, but the style may also be able to transition into fall. Florence Welch (pictured above-right) wore hers to a recent music festival, and we couldn’t like it more on her! So the question that begs an answer is: can the wicker purse trend translate from celeb style to college campuses?

So, we want to know: would you wear a wicker purse?

If yes, how would you wear it? Is this look something you’ll try? Which style above is your favorite? Leave a comment below and let’s talk about it!

I have a cross-body one that I bought at Value World for $1.50 and absolutely love! It goes with everything but I don’t think it will transition into fall well. But for such a low price, I don’t mind that I will only be able to wear it half of the year.

I also got a wicker purse at a thrift store for about 4.50. I think that would definitely be the place to go for accessories like that. I got it in the spring and have been using it all summer. I get so many compliments, and I love it!

Duh! I am on the hunt for one now. How could you write an article about these and not mention Jane Birken?

She preferred them over Birken bags!

I think they look cute, but I don’t really feel the desire to have one.

I think they’re pretty! They have a vintage kind of 1950s look, and I think they’re fairly classic as a summer staple. I’ve been trying to find one I love!

Of course, wicker is no longer just for out grandmother’s rocking chairs. I love them they are an update on straw bags and their so ladylike and give a nod back to vintage era, I could picture Audrey Hepburn with a wicker purse :)

I’m not a fan of small handbags or totes but if it were a little larger then I would wear one. Maybe? lol

I think they’re super cute and they would definitely fit in here in Charleston. I would probably wear one similar to the one Rachel Weisz has in that picture.

A straw basket- the original Birkin bag! I would definitely wear one of these, though perhaps not for fall.

I would wear a larger-scale piece – I’ve never liked the tiny handbag with thin shoulder strap combo, wicker or not.

I was given a wicker clutch as a gift from my grandmothers bag collection. I think it looks cute summer vintage! Haven’t decided what to wear it with.

Yes of course, I’ve had them and used them all my life not because it’s a trend but because I like them. Audrey Hepburn used to carry one way before anyone thought it was trendy. Some people will love them simply because, some will use them because it’s the trend no matter how they feel about them. Be true to yourself you either love them or you don’t.
