Would You Wear… a Trapper Hat?

Okay, so if you’re the average college student, chances are you’re not going to be rocking a trapper hat for its associated tasks, i.e. hunting and trapping. Even so, these super warm hats are a hot commodity this season, and while we may not be trekking through the forest, we still have to keep our ears warm in the chilly temperatures!
These faux-fur-lined hats are a great way to look stylish while staying warm this season. While there are plenty of traditional options covered entirely in faux fur, cable knit, fair isle, and plaid versions abound in stores, so you can pick and choose a trapper hat to match your style.
Here are our favorite finds, all below $30…

Product information (left to right): Maurices ($18.00), Charlotte Russe ($16.50), American Eagle ($29.95), Kohl’s ($14.00), Tilly’s ($14.99), Tilly’s ($16.99), Forever 21 ($12.80)
Would you wear a trapper hat?
We want to know what you think about this style! Will you be wearing one this winter, or passing on this trend? How would you wear it?

Trapper hats always remind me of Catcher in the Rye lol. Not sure if I could pull it off but I’m sure they’re warm!

Oh dear… I bought one of these for my boyfriend for Valentines day, but he ended up giving it to his dad instead…
He thought it looked too Russian…
:(
I guess they are not fashionable for boys, but I think he should have kept it anyways – they stand up well in the Canadian winters!
Amy
I have a trapper hat!

I have a furry leopard print one. I don’t care if I look dumb in it, it’s so snuggly!
Nadja
I have a trapper hat custom knitted for me. Very convenient, warm, and fits all the coats I have.

I like trapper hats, because I find they’re the only type that will sit well on top of a hijab/ headscarf- others will slide off (pulling my scarf off with them), or just make my face look too round.
The only problem I find though is that they’re more suited for a preppy/ hipster/ city chic sort of look, which I don’t have (most of my clothes are colourful & boho, with a touch of mod). Any ideas on how to wear trapper hats well, with a style like mine?

I love how this post features the trapper hat for women and not just men. It’s a super warm hat that everyone should give a try!

I got a great Eddie Bauer trapper hat from a friend who didn’t want it and it’s one of my favorite winter accessories, especially since I live in chilly Vermont!

Trapper hats will forever be my favorite winter accessory!
As a hunter and trapper I use mine for everyday in the woods and at school to stay warm. GIrls who hunt and trap can be interested in fashion too!

These were super popular at my high school and most of my friends had them. I got kind of tired of seeing them so no I probably wouldn’t wear one. But then again I’m not really a hat person and I live in deep hot south

I absolutely love mine. It’s all black with a fur trim over the forehead and sweater texture thru-out with two dangly things with black fur Pom Poms at the ends. It’s so warm. I pulled off one the strings however and can’t sew to save my life. It will be fixed. I think I got mine at Spencer’s a few years back. It’s Paul frank which I’m not a huge fan of, but there are no monkeys anywhere on it. And when you live in Colorado fashion kinda comes second to warmth. Still I love my trapper hat.
Rora and the City
They are cute and silly. So if you are confident and playing around in it, I’d say go for it!
Cate
YES! I got mine at target and i’m in love
Lindsay
Yeah, this is almost a requirement for Canadian weather, ha
