This winter, the snood is a thing. Sure, it’s been hanging around for a few seasons, but now it’s a full-blown trend.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term, a snood is a scarf/hood hybrid that operates as both. Typically, they are infinity-style scarves made of a chunky knit material that can easily wrap around the head as well as the neck.

Snoods are incredibly warm, making them a practical choice during the frigid months. But, there is also some backlash against them, as skeptics say they are just too much. However, we can’t help but love this accessory trend, particularly in bright colors.

I’ve loved & worn snoods for the last three years =) I’ve had quite a few debates with friends over whether it is called a ‘snood’ or a ‘circle scarf’, ha ha!

Personally, snoods are perfect for the -30 weather we have here in Northwestern Ontario. Always a closet staple for me!

I think I’ve had snoods and didn’t realize they could be worn as hoods as well! I’ll try it out! Makes sense now that I’ve seen pictures…

Never thought about wearing it as a hood… but I like it! I actualy want some now, I think :D It has very rebel-ish and fantasy-ish feel (I’m thinkinh – Robin Hood, tolkiens elves etc.) Thank you for tip!

So it’s an oversize infinity scarf? How is this even worthy of a new name? I’ll just continue to call them scarves since, you know, that’s what they are.

    THIS is a snood: http://www.snoods.com/bdmetc1.jpg

What you posted is a cowl, or in some cases more of a oversized infinity scarf. They are not the same thing. Just FYI.

It just looks like the scarf got stuck to the top of your head while you put it on and you didn’t check the mirror/felt too lazy to pull it down. Just-NO

I’m actually knitting one for myself right now! They’re far too cozy not to wear one.

Love them, I have 2 and they add the perfect touch to any of my outfits and are an extra-cozy basic for me.

On account of me living in Florida, I’m gonna say no. Also they just look like infinity scarves, and they do seem like a bit much if you don’t live somewhere ultra cold.
