Gone are the days of rocking your prized tee with Britney Spears’s face printed on it, but lo and behold: photo print shirts are coming back around in a big way. Direct prints from photographs are everywhere this season, from dresses to pants and tops, and in bright colors, black & white, and sepia tones.

Dries Van Noten and Carven sent photo prints strutting down the runway in various forms for Fall 2012, and now they’re beginning to appear in stores.

If you’re itching to try this trend out, pair it with sleek pieces and minimal accessories to tone it down. Let the print speak for itself, as it is already quite visually overwhelming. And don’t spend a lot of money on a piece; this is trend that probably won’t have staying powder.  By the way, we won’t tell if you still like to sleep in your *NSYNC printed t-shirt from the ’90s.

Here’s how we’d wear it…

Haven’t seen a photo print design that I really like. Waiting for some site to do custom photo prints and to choose your own from submitted designs. I want one of my kitty cat.

I don’t think I would. It seems like the kind of trend that will go out of style in two seconds and I don’t want a random piece of clothing gathering dust in my dresser :P

Why does it matter if it goes out of style or not? As long as it’s something you want to wear, then it doesn’t matter.

I’d wear it if I found a print I liked but haven’t found one I do except the dress you chose for the post is cute! :)

I’m not sure it I would actually wear a photo print. It seems a little much to me and not really my style.

I’ve never really been into photo prints, but I really like the fresh spin from these outfits. I might have to rethink the trend :)

I love this trend. I’ve seen it in t-shirts and high top sneakers. It looks good in dresses too. I’ll definitely try it out, probably in t-shirts. You styled that high-low dress in a nice way.
    Nice post! :)

I’d like it if it was a photo print of a tree or of a famous renaissance painting or other artwork on it. I think that would look really really pretty and classy. Not too keen on the sunset and scenery ones though.

I had a question about statement pieces (especially necklaces!) I always have a hard time knowing “when to stop” in terms of statement pieces. I have long beaded necklaces in bold colors but it always seems that earrings are a no-no with them. What kinds of pieces can I wear together? I guess it’s because to me a look always seems incomplete w/o BOTH a necklace and earrings.
