I already own several maxi skirts as well as some maxi dresses. I love them they're basically like pants only way more comfy and i don't have to struggle to squeeze me butt into them like i do with skinny jeans. i prefer the tighter pencil-skirt maxis because i have an hourglass shape and it shows it off really well. I'll definitely wear them in the fall as well just pair it with a leather jacket and you can't go wrong.

Paired with the right top,(lower cut or halter)a maxi skirt can present a look that is just as sexy as the mini, and a lot more comfortable too ! Love the maxi trend and I found a lot of great styles and buys at Kohl's,check out their maxi line,it's worth a look ! Many of my friends(including my boy friend)have complemented me on my new maxi sense of style, good bye jeans !!

Maxi Skirts: I don’t get what the big hoopla is about! I feel a lot of people here are kind of ones to be” fashion ignorant” for the lack of a better word. Trends are just suggestions and often come back with an element of updated modernity. So I feel people should try them before they nix them. I have a classic style yet I’m open to trends. Nobody would make a broad general statement claiming nobody can pull of jeans. That’s because they come in some many style and washes, it be very hard to say so. (Although I hate wearing jeans for comfort and overall style but that another story. It’s not like I don’t have a pair in my closet) the same goes for any trend or piece of clothing. Maxi Skirts come in different variations for everybody. This characteristic can lead them to be a classic fashion essential. I’m 5’5 with slim hips. So I tend to look stunning in maxi skirts that are formfitting and have a hemline (very important factor) that is very long. I also like fishtail skirts made of jersey lack skirts are the most versatile and personal favourite. Although have been looking for a black and white on similar to the one the author found ( thanks!). I stay from the bias cut maxis that or loose, peasant inspired, or have any volume what so ever. People praise starlets who wear gowns or brides for wedding dresses. In these cases everyone finds one to suit them and feel gorgeous. A gown, isn’t that essentially what maxi dress or skirt is? You just have to find the one most flattering for you.

I honestly don't get why all you short gals are complaining about not being able to pull this look off. Don't restrict yourselves just because of your height. Take Nicole Richie and the Olsen twins as examples. All three are petite women (Nicole is 5'1 and the Olsens are about the same height) and they wear maxi skirts and dresses all the time, not to mention they look GOOD in them. Height isn't nearly as important as how you style the item.

I just bought a maxi skirt yesterday. Almost the same as the first picture, I'm short (5'1 and in between chubby and average). The reason why I bought a maxi skirt is because I'm a bit tired of wearing short skirts and pairing them with black tights. Also, I wan't to wear a skirt that would hide my large calves.

I reckon short people can pull-off maxi skirts/dresses if it is worn with high-heels or wedges. :)
