Would You Wear… a Leotard?
Here’s another wacky trend for you all to discuss in this week’s edition of “Would You Wear?”
One of the latest trends I’ve seen on many celebrities lately is the leotard. Once reserved for 80’s workout videos and professional ballerinas, the one-piece has now become everyday wear for stars like Lady GaGa and Lindsay Lohan.
While I think the leotard works with GaGa’s over-the-top persona, I don’t think the look works for Lohan at all. Also, I can’t help but think that leotards are a little too revealing for the average girl’s everyday wear. Some things should be left to the imagination…

Lada Gaga can pull it off easily, but Lindsay Lohan looks ridiculous wearing it. Especially in that second picture with the white sweater over it, it looks like she forgot how to dress herself.

Lindsay Lohan looks scaryyy skinny. I like the leotard look if it’s worn with jeans over, sort of the look of tucking a tank top in. :)

I would never wear a leotard like that in public. I wear one for dance and dance only. I think it looks horrible. It’s like wearing leggings with a short top. Both are a big fashion ‘don’t’

It looks like it is sagging in the middle picture which just makes it look like it’s not the right size. So I’d say NO!

I think leotards should be left for dance studios and ballerinas.
And Lindsay rarely seems to make good style choices these days…

i think the leotard on its own is awful, although i think can look pretty cute tucked into a skirt. having said that, i would defiantly not go out wearing a leotard and nothing else on the bottom. Plus its just not flattering on anyone!!

Its cute with jeans over it, like la petite fashonista said, but the way lindsay is wearing it is awful. The first photo is okay, because you can’t really tell that its a leotard, but the second one, um ew? Lady GaGa can pull off anything, so if she wants to wear a leotard, im not stopping her.

lindsay isn’t wearing a leotard there, it’s a tanktop if you have seen pics from the front view and stuff.
and I would never wear a leotard, they are meant for like ballet not everyday wear.

There’s no way on this planet that I would wear a leotard!! I do think that it looks good when Lady Gaga wears one because it goes with her image and everything buy Lindsay Lohan looks so gross in one.

Yeah definitely dance class and dance class only.. though I do happen to like mine quite a bit. Street clothes for the street, dance clothes for the studio:)

The only way I would ever wear one is if were under an empire waist skirt, and that it is! I don’t have the body for it, and even if I did, that just looks silly.

I’m a dancer so leos aren’t a problem. But in the public I would only wear them w/ jeans…other than that they look silly! Lady GaGa mos def pulls it off tho!

i might wear one, but only w pants or a skirt or something over it. I also think that wearing them with a shirt on top looks awful. It just ends up looking like you’re wearing underwear on the outside.

ugh. especially that second photo. the only way I’d consider this is with real pants, but at that point I’d probably just feel like I was wearing jeans over my swimsuit.

Although I give props to the people with the guts to wear a leotard, I do not think I would wear one. But who knows? I never thought the legging trend would get me and it totally did. We’ll see I guess?

I just find them inconvenient. Going to the washroom must be such a hassle.
Alone, they’re okay for ostentatious events like ’80s parties, but other than that, wearing a leotard in public just isn’t something i would do, nor would I want to see others doing. However, if they’re worn with jeans over them, it could be okay – kind of like the tucked in shirt that will stay tucked.

LiLo looks like her pooped in her leotard but Lady GaGa can pull it off for sure, because she is over the top like that.
Not something I would suggest for everyday wear for us college girls though…..

as a dancer 5 nightss a weeek,, im pretty used to the thingss :) there fine for the studioo, but defoo no no for out and about :D … but have to say mkes you feel better about wearing them when you see them on the high street :D

really i dont think anyone wants to see that much of a person. the leotards are just too “form fitting” they, like the 80s, have come and gone, never to return….

im a competitive gymnast and i’ll wear a leotard under a pair of comfy sweats in public but that style is discusting! save it for the 80’s!

As far as a leotard looks on anyone out in the public, as long as the legs and waistline- front and rear, are covered, (with jeans or something- especially if they are not so toned), the top can really be flattering when you have the upper body that is in the right shape. A tank top leotard with a pair of nice jeans can be very flattering and nice on the right person with the right figure.

I love my dancewear but I don’t like wearing a leotard on it’s own even to dance practice (I usually wear stirrup leggings underneath). Of course, like a swimsuit going to the pool, I’ll wear my dancewear under regular clothes as it’s really comfy but wandering around in just a leotard isn’t a look I’m going to go with. Maybe with jeans a leotard might be okay but I’d be a follower of fashion on that one, not the one blazing the trail, haha.

Leotards are for DANCERS and GYMNASTS and ONLY those people. Even on Yoga people it looks wacky. People who can pull off leotards? Shawn Johnson, ANY Ballerina, Beyonce ( A la “Single Ladies”), and GaGa….(but what *can’t* she pull off?)
