Would You Wear… a Floppy Sun Hat?

What’s the chicest way to protect yourself from the sun this summer? Floppy sun hats, of course! Everyone from celebs to stylish college students and beach-goers have been donning these babies – and we’ve featured them twice here over the past week. (See our post, Fashion Challenge: Wear a Floppy Sun Hat for tips on styling, and Fabulous Find of the Week: Forever 21 Floppy Hat for outfit ideas!)
It’s safe to say that we’re totally in love with these summer staples. Not only are they great for keeping your face in the shade, you can’t argue with the cute factor they bring to any outfit.
If you’re wondering what to wear a wide-brim sun hat with, the answer is: everything! It’s difficult to go wrong with a sundress and hat, but one of these can also dress up a casual t-shirt and shorts (like Keri Russell, pictured middle-above). I absolutely love this look, and I know many other college girls who do, too!

Now you know where I stand, what do you think?
We’ve talked a lot about these hats over the past few days, but now it’s time to share YOUR opinion! Are you a fan of wide-brim, floppy sun hats? Would you wear this trend? Do you think you’d rock the look with a cute sundress or another style? Let us know with a comment!

Most definitely! Think they’re super cute! And they go with skinny jeans and a tank, too.
Lizzy
I think they’re quite cute but honestly I think they’re a bit too “in” right now, sunhats everywhere :D

people used to make fun of me for wearing hats like that at the beach and now theyre everywhere! i love the black ones. i think they add a touch of glamour :)
Sarah
Absolutely. I think they’re so classy and chic. I’ve been wanting to pick one up for a while.
Caitlin
I would definitely wear one! I have a white one that I use for the beach, so this year I’m going to try and incorporate it into more outfits for everyday :)
Katie
I wear floppy sun hats all the time! They are effortlessly chic!
Lola
PS I would love to see a piece on shirt dresses like Vanessa’s, their so chic!

I’ve always been a great fan of hair accessories and hats. I have a wide range of different hats hanging on the wall of my corridor and I’ve got some of those floppy hats as well.
I love wearing them during the summer because they can really make a simple beach outfit step it up a notch. But besides that they’re just really practical because they don’t fly off so easily if they fit. I have that problem with other hats. And the provide much more of that needed shade on hot days. Double win.
So, yes, I would wear them and I suggest everyone else to try them out too. I know I won’t stop wearing them just because they’re suddenly ‘in’ now.
Dana
can you do a post on where to find nice sunhats? i went to old navy today and they had none!
Taj
Love floppy hats! Buuuut, why is like every other post about floppy sun hats? I swear that they’ve been featured almost constantly!
Liz
I definitely want to try out this trend! Floppy hats are chic and protect you from the sun. I second Lola’s request to do a post on shirtdresses hopefully with some affordable options since the only shirtdresses I’ve seen in magazines have been really expensive.

Absolutely! I bought a black, floppy sun hat a few years ago because it reminded me of old Italian movies and I love it. I don’t wear it as often as I could (the weather here isn’t exactly sun hat friendly), but on hot and sunny days I break it out. I like to pair it with a blue, collared shirtdress, platform sandals and some wooden bangles.

I’ve been wearing these for years and people used to think I looked funny. Now the same people are wearing them lol. I love my 3 floppy hats and wear them all the time. They are a great accessory and i love to wear them at the beach :)
Gracey
I would love to get one in black and wear it to the beach! My scalp always gets burned so a hat is really the only way to protect it.

I love VH’s floppy hat! Perfect shape and color. While I think it’s a super chic way to protect yourself from the sun, I haven’t braved the look yet. Definitely on my to-do list!
Dani
I used to wear these and got made fun of so I find it funny that they’re “in” now.
Antoinette Miller
i got one last year cause i was tired of carrying an umbrella everywhere, but i love it.

Forever21 has cute ones now. Especially the black basketweave floppy one for $5.50. Hard to beat!
Kelly
I love floppy hats! They were my number one thing on my summer clothes wish list.

Tons of inspiration can be found on lookbook, I think most of the outfits there now come with some kind of hat and I find that cute.
Danielle
Just bought a really cute one at Ross today for only $5!!!
Dorothy
i DEFINITELY WOULD LIKE TO WEAR A BIG FLOPPY HAT. NOT ONLY BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY FROM THE SUN, BUT BECAUSE i THINK THEY LOOK GOOD ON JUST ABOUT EVERYONE.
Cara
I think this floppy hat style is nice, but it is just not for me. You will not see me rocking this style.
Tara
I love these, I can’t wait to go and buy one! I’ve seen so many cute ones at Target!
Sydnee

I’d most definitely wear a floppy hat! I know this is an old post, but I just have to say, I find it a little weird that I was perusing this site and when I came across this post I saw that you used a picture of my friend. The blonde in the bottom left is a friend in the same major as me. She was a little creeped out when I told her about this post because she had no idea you had used the photo.
