Would You Wear… a Corduroy Dress?

Corduroy is one of those “love it or hate it” fabrics. If you – like us – are among the former camp, you’ll love this winter’s corduroy dress trend.
Aside from the warm-factor, we love the styling options these dresses provide. As a child, you may have worn a corduroy jumper. We love the idea of bringing the style back as a cute look, as seen in the above-middle street style photo. For a dressier option, choose a patterned garment (like the Free People dress, above-right), or a shirtdress (à la the street style shot, above-left).
We love the jumper look…

Product Information: Dress – UNIQLO, Shirt – Wallis Fashion, Headband – Pacsun (sold out – similar ones at AE, Topshop), Shoes – Bergdorf Goodman, Tights – Modcloth

i personally think it looks a little young unless it’s patterned. the patterned ones look age-appropriate and they’re cute!
Alana
I probably wouldn’t wear the plain jumper, I’d feel like a little kid. But the patterned is lovely, and I really would love that shirtdress if it was a tad longer. I love corduroy stuff, I’ll be on the lookout for a dress now!
Jenna
I like the idea. It’s unexpected and I love corduroy anyway. But the only cut I like in the examples is the Free People one.
Little J
Yes, but it depends also on the cut. The dark ones look really cute, and – I agree with Alana – I’d feel like a kid which can be really good experience again! :)
Cristina
Yes I would wear it. I love corduroy. The dress reminds me of the 60′s.
Jenny
Hmm it would depend on the dress
Anna
YES YES YES OF COURSE I’LL WEAR ONE!!! I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS TREND TO COME BACK!!! I LOVE IT
Stephanie
Oh man. Wearing corduroy is like ripping apart cotton balls all day. Ejdfjsdfhjsf. Gives me the heebie jeebies..
catel
yeah, no….
Mariam
I really like the idea but the cut and color need to be darker and more age appropriate, like the free people one, then it’s adorable
Chloe
The outfit example is cute with the pattern shirt underneath it….but I think I couldn’t pull it off – to little kid-ish.
You never know – I orginally said I never would wear leggings. That lasted all but one month . : P
C
I think it’s adorable but as the youngest in the family I try to avoid looking too cute! Ha ;) Great post, what a cute trend!
Donna
it is nice vintage style, I love it!
Amy
I love the first dress (the blue one). The red dress is a little too shapeless for me and would not be flattering, but I’d love to wear a corduroy dress. I don’t mind childlike pieces in an outfit.
kera
Love the one from Free People. Everything else doesn’t look right

When I was growing up, I used to wear corduroy pants ALL the time. It was seriously a problem =P I actually love the fabric, but I have yet to see it in the form of a dress, so thanks for sharing! I’ll definitely have to keep an eye out and head for the fitting rooms. I love the Free People dress. The pattern is gorgeous!
ignacia
I like the shirtdress look, not so much the jumper look. It reminds me so much of school uniforms.
Ana
I love the idea of a corduroy dress, but so far I haven’t seen a cut I would wear. Maybe it’s time to get the sewing machine out?
Bee
i have this one totally gorgeous corduroy dress by tommy hilfiger. best piece ever.
