Would You Wear… a Bold Choker?

The choker trend is back – and it is bolder than ever. Statement necklaces have been popular for endless seasons now, but bold, solid metal chokers are a new trend for this season.

Seen all over the fall 2011 runways, these chunky jewelry pieces are sophisticated, glamorous and edgy. I can’t help but wonder, though, whether they’re really wearable.

While these chokers look fierce on the runway, can they translate into the college girl’s wardrobe? Personally, I think sartorially adventurous types can definitely pull off these bold pieces – the street style snaps above serve as solid proof. However, those with less daring senses of style will likely find this trend difficult to wear.

Now that you’ve heard about the trend, let’s discuss it!

Leave a comment below and let me know what you think about this bold fall trend.  Are you on board with these statement chokers or will you pass? How would you wear a chunky metal choker? Which look above is your favorite?

What if you have a fairly thick neck? I’m not exactly Hulk Hogan, but my neck isn’t particularly swanlike– I suspect a bulky choker would make my neck look even thicker.

They look amazing in the photographs here (number 1 is my fave), but as a well-endowed girl I rarely feel comfortable in short necklaces because I think they tend to add emphasis where I don’t want it. Anyone else feel the same way?

I love the way the choker looks, but I think it’s difficult for girls like me to wear since I don’t have a super long neck! Would there be a way to wear the choker and elongate the neck?

I cannot pull off a choker because my neck is uber short BUT I think I can do the big necklaces if they go in a open V shape and is not too long.

I love the way these look.. But not on myself personally. I’m so short, that I feel like they cut me off and make me look even shorter than I already am. I do love this look, I just think it works best on very tall girls with long necks.

I’ve been looking everywhere for a choker since I saw Angelina Jolie wear one in her movie The Tourist! She’s not necessarily a style icon of mine, but with her updo, the look was so sixties glam. I can’t wait to start seeing them in stores. Even if it might make me look short, it’s nice to have the option, isn’t it?

I love chokers – I’m stoked that this fashion is making it’s rounds again. XD

I agree that this trend is challenging. It looks really good in all the pictures but seems very difficult to pull off. I’ve only worn one choker before (a friendship choker) and it looked fine because it was so think and not too tight. However, I’ve never tried a thick bulky one.

Not too fond of this. :/ I hate the feeling of chokers around my neck. Plus, I don’t find them flattering on my body.

I love the thought of wearing a choker, but do you have any suggestions on where to find them? Or any suggestions on a type? (if there are different types, because I have no idea)

I use to wear chockers back in the 90s when the cast of 90210 use to wear them

Too 90′s for me. I looks kind of uncomfortable… I would keep fussing with it!

No no no. I hate chokers. They just remind me of the 90′s and not in a good way.

Oh, any girl can definitely rock a choker. It’s instant elegance if you get the right one. Just don’t wear a TON of other accessories with it, keep your lines mature and smooth, and you’re going to look amazing. God knows I can’t resist a gothy edge to fashion trends, and this is for sure it.

I’ve yet to see these in stores, but I’m very intrigued. I think pulling off a choker would be easy and I’m happy its makinga comeback. However, I just don’t want to see those black elastic, stretchy chokers ever again.

It looks really uncomfortable. I can’t even wear turtlenecks!

I would if I could find not too costly. Any leads? I am sensitive to metal, so it would never be a part of my common jewelry, but Id love one to wear for fall only.
