Would You Wear… Denim Boyfriend Shorts?

Women and men have played with fashion proportions for centuries. From giant ruff collars and bustles to miniskirts and hats, fashion is made up of shapes.

Popular ones come and go, which is why it makes sense that boyfriend jeans have evolved into boyfriend shorts. They are exactly what they sound like: baggy shorts that are often distressed or faded.

Loosely-slung shorts look rad with tighter-fitting blouses or cropped tops. We always encourage some added height in the shoe department when playing with baggy styles, as it helps to balance everything out.

With fall just around the corner, we suggest rocking boyfriend shorts with a sweater, as shown in the outfit below:

I’m thin so anything baggy makes me look even thinner. I like tight skinny jeans.

While they may be called boyfriend shorts for straight sizes, these are basically the type of shorts that plus-size girls have to chose from when shopping during the summer. Light wash, baggy, longer styles are basically the only options for plus size girls who don’t want to wear pants during the summer. I like that you’re featuring a way to wear them, it’s just discouraging to see this branded as a ‘new’ trend for straight sized girls.

Boyfriend shorts?? How about just normal shorts, these are nothing new although the show-half-of-your-bum shorts have been the trend lately

I’ve tried boyfriend shorts on before, but they weren’t baggy *enough* for my fuller thighs. More like shorter bermudas than regular mid-length shorts.

As well as the first comment i am already thin and baggy shorts makes me look kinda malnourished even if i am not (i look like the girl on the second picture, and i’m 5’9 so not a good look for me)

I like that the trend is moving to a more modest state rather than booty shorts.

I wish I could find more shorts like this when I go shopping. All I ever find are shorts that are far too short for me. These are the kinds of shorts I look for, although I would prefer a darker wash.

I found a nice pair of shorts like this at American Eagle – I was looking for normal decent length shorts that don’t show half your butt.
    Didn’t realize they were a trend…
I don’t know if I would go for the baggy option though because you can see straight up the legs when sitting.
