The colorblock trend spotted at Prabal Gurung, Arden B and Jil Sander.

Graphic blocks of bright color on a garment, known as colorblocking, have been in style for a few seasons now, but they're really taking off in 2011. If the runways are any indication, this spring will be all about mixed brights and colorblocking. Not only has this color trend been spotted on runways, but it's also taking over your favorite stores right now - brightly colored, colorblocked tops and dresses can currently be found at Forever 21 and Topshop.

While the extreme colorblocking seen on the runways has a lot of shock value, I think there are more subtle ways for college girls to translate the trend into their class wear. If the colors are kept muted and the silhouettes are simple, colorblocking can be a great way to transition your wardrobe from winter to spring!

If you're looking to try this trend out, I found some ultra-cute colorblocked pieces...
