Fall Fashion Trend: Grey

Trendy Grey Outfit - Fall 2007One of Fall 2007’s big fashion rules: grey is the new black. This season’s runways all featured shades of grey from charcoal to heather on everything from tights to dresses and sweaters.

Remember how we were all were obsessed with yellow this spring? Grey is going to be the new favorite-color-ever this fall.

The best ways to wear this season’s new black: paired with other grey shades for a monochrome look, worn with this fall’s trendy jewel tones, or with a few of summer’s bright pieces to transition into fall.

I also love the grey look with metallics – especially silver and bronze. Grey makes a great base to your outfit, and draws attention to any other piece that you want to show off.

I love gray as a neutral. It works well with purple and turquoise – my two favorite colors. I’m currently looking for some great gray skirts and jewel-tone tops.

Me too! I just bought a really cute grey/purple striped sweater-hoodie last night. I love the look of grey with rich jewel-tones. It’s gonna be huge this winter – just wait!

Actually, last fall, gray was huge and notoriously titled “the new black” by Vogue, Elle, and Harper’s Bazaar. It went very well with the gothic mood swing fashion had.

This year, however, gray is still a popular color choice, but it’s NOT the new black.

Navy is the new black, as so stated by Vogue and every other fashion magazine, and it is preferably paired with brown accessories. The “new black” again compliments fashion’s mood, which happens to be conservative, classic, and grown up.

Emily – This year, you’re in luck – there’s no such thing as too much grey!

Fredericka – Sometimes I just don’t get Vogue. They always name trends for the year, and most of the time it doesn’t pan out that way in terms of what people are actually wearing. Everyone was wearing black last winter, and I didn’t see much grey on the streets at all. This year, it’s all about grey according to what people are already buying, what retailers are already selling and forecasts from trend watchers and magazines like Instyle and Glamour. I haven’t seen any mention of navy anywhere but the mags. I think they live in their own dream world.

Dior – Thanks for the link, will check it out!

TDago7 – Hahaha, the pregnancy dress. Excellent! As much as I liked empire waist stuff when it first started to become popular, I’m definitely happy a more fitted look is coming back into style. Whats the point of having a great body if it’s covered by a huge balloon of fabric anyway?

I think that this is a great color that is very versitile! Not as harsh and strictly formal as black, but still professional enough. And I think it would work well with the black items already in the closet.

Great post! And check out my blog ‘Looks to Love’ and let me know if you want to trade links!! :)

Every girl needs a few great dresses in their closet. For those who try to keep a streamlined wardrobe (unlike me, totally excessive) we suggest ones that are easily taken from work to play. Maximize each piece in your wardrobe by changing your shoes, jewelry, or bag. In the case of a dress, layer it with a great little jacket or sweater. In this edition, we are going to present you with two extremely versatile, great looking, inexpensive dresses.

First, we have the Split Neck Vicose Dress by Kersh. Available in black or grey, you can really change the look of this piece. Wear it to the office with a great structured jacket or wear it out on the town with some killer shoes and jewelry. It’s available in the season’s hottest color, grey, or in black. It’s soft and comfortable, yet totally chic. Did we mention it looks great on the body? You can wear the neck open or closed.

Second, we have a totally fun Fall look. This Cable Knit Sweater Dress by Kersh is truly fashion forward. Again, available in Grey, the color of the season. It features a simple shift cut, crew neck, ribbed waist, 3/4 sleeves, and two fun pockets. We see this with some killer boots, a great jacket, and earrings. You will look pulled together with literally no effort!

Please pardon our enthusiasm, we are just so EXCITED!

Workout shorts are appropriate for the gym and casual days lounging around the house. UGG boots are OK in the winter. However, wearing gym shorts and UGG boots together, in the summer, is bad fashion and just plain lazy. We petition to have UGG boots and workout shorts only worn during appropriate times.
