By the time you read this post, I will officially have a master’s degree – and I will certainly be celebrating! This time of year is exciting for a lot of reasons, but mainly because everyone’s in a festive mood. Plus, in the weeks leading up to Christmas, you’re sure to find yourself at a few seasonal functions.
If you’re studying abroad in the UK this year (or just want to look like you did), there are plenty of party looks in shops now, so head to the high street (or click the links below) and stock up for the season! Below, I’ll show you five head-to-toe party ensembles, each from a different high street store:
1. Go Mono at Zara
There’s no denying that green is the color for the holidays – you know, Christmas trees, holly, and mistletoe! – and going out layered in lashings of it looks awesome.
The monochromatic style is a standout look that’s unique and bold, plus it’s a great foundation for an interesting clutch, bag, or jacket. Keep your makeup low-key or try winged liner in a matching hue.
2. Be Bedazzling at River Island
Parties are a great time to show off glitzy pieces, and nothing says glamour like black, gold, and a satin-y white. This gold sequin skirt is seriously sparkling, and teamed with black stacked heels and a gold-trimmed tuxedo jacket, it’s classy and super fun.
All that sparkle a little OTT? Tone it down by accessorizing with sequins and shine instead. A clutch, jewelry, or hair accessories are all fab alternatives!
3. Upgrade Casual at H&M
Heading out for a few drinks or a meal rather than a full-out bash? Try pairing shiny short heels with on-trend leather-look pants and a silk blouse for a polished and modern ensemble.
It looks pulled-together, but the colorful scarf and cross-body bag still make it appropriate for a casual evening sampling pints in the pub. Pair it with a tawny smoky eye and a nude lip for no-fuss makeup to match.
4. Get in the Spirit at New Look
This look is great for Christmas-y occasions, and you’re sure to spread holiday cheer with shimmering gold and a little red dress. A gold headband and cool, Art-Deco inspired drop earrings make this body con dress classy. Plus, you won’t freeze with a pretty cream-colored mohair coat.
5. Be a Vamp at Topshop
I’m all about black-on-black for going out, and this playsuit paired with a contrast blazer looks seriously cool. Gold chains and ankle boots dress it up while still making it appropriate for semi-casual occasions. Lastly, a good berry lip and matching manicure makes it ultra feminine and vampy.
