Runway Looks for Less: Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall 2012 RTW

Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall 2012 RTW | ELLE
Marc Jacobs is a perpetual fave here at CF and one of the reasons we love him is for his Marc by Marc Jacobs line. This lower-priced diffusion line not only makes snagging designer goods much more affordable, but includes some pretty adorable and covet-worthy items (like these earrings!).
However, the cost of rocking a head-to-toe Marc by Marc Jacobs ensemble is still out of reach for many college students. That’s why we’re here to help: simply scroll on down to check out three stylish interpretations of looks from the Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall 2012 runway show:
1. Collegiate Chic

If you’re looking for a cozy, yet stylish outfit to wear this season, look no further than this Marc by Marc Jacobs look. Pairing an oversized sweater with a patterned skirt and flat boots creates a casual, yet put-together everyday ensemble.

Recreate the look above by pairing a dark gray sweater with a two-toned patterned skirt. Wedged ankle booties add a chic touch, while the red color of the socks creates a great contrast with the orange color from the skirt. Finish this look with a pair of oversized shades.
2. Cool-Weather Colorblocking

The color-block trend is still holding strong, and this runway ensemble is a stylish example of how to rock this look for fall. The deep berry and tangerine hues create a fantastic combination, while a gray turtleneck layered underneath creates interest.

Mimic the Marc by Marc Jacobs look by layering a dove gray turtleneck under a bright orange sweater. This jewel-toned skirt adds another dose of color, while a detachable collar gives the outfit a fashion-forward vibe. Comfortable, menswear-inspired oxfords complete this runway-inspired look.
3. Casual Classics

This look from Marc by Marc Jacobs pairs several classic elements — a white button-up, black trousers, and a plaid coat — to create a timeless outfit with a modern twist. Additions like a waist-cinching belt and flat boots add a fashion-forward vibe, making this a practical and stylish outfit idea for autumn.

For a similar look, start by pairing a classic white button-up with a pair of comfy black jeggings. Layer on a cozy plaid coat, then define your waistline with a wide belt. Add a pair of lace-up black combat boots, knitted gray socks, and a sturdy top-handle bag to complete this stylish fall outfit.

Aaaaa this is so cute! I literally want every single item on the page. I also want to sip pumpkin spice lattes while wearing the first one to study in the corner of a coffee shop. Is that too specific? Haha

I love number 2…because it is orange and maroon, just like my school’s colors! Seriously though, it’s one of my favorite combinations for fall. I’ve been stocking up since both colors are á la mode again!
