Runway Looks for Less: Burberry Prorsum Fall 2012 RTW

Burberry Prorsum Fall 2012 RTW | ELLE
Now that winter seems to be in full swing, I thought it would be prime time to showcase one of my favorite collections from this season: Burberry Prorsum Fall 2012 RTW.
This collection features layered looks that are not only fantastic for cold weather, but also incorporate a lot of different trends, such as menswear- and military-inspired pieces and a whole lot of peplum. And you know those animal graphic tops that have been so trendy this fall? Yep, you can thank Burberry for their rise in popularity.
If you want to snag that stylish winter look for just a fraction of the price, simply scroll on down to check out three looks inspired by Burberry Prorsum Fall 2012:
1. Modern Vintage

As mentioned above, peplum was prevalent at Burberry’s Fall 2012 show, and this look exemplifies how to wear the silhouette during the colder months of the year. Pairing a polished jacket with an oversized belt and striped skirt creates a vintage-inspired vibe with plenty of trendy touches.

To get this look, start with a mid-length blue and gold striped skirt. Layer a top of your choice underneath a peplum jacket, then add a neutral-colored bow belt. Sweater tights keep the look cozy, while wedge ankle booties are both stylish and comfortable. For the finishing touch, accessorize with a pair of sleek sunglasses and a ladylike scalloped handbag.
2. Graphics & Knits

Burberry nailed the cozy, yet put-together vibe with this look, which pairs a ruffled skirt and graphic tee with a gorgeous green knit coat. The resulting outfit is a fashion-forward look that works for day or night.

Recreate the above look by pairing an owl-adorned tee with a brown pencil skirt. Add a comfy oversized knit sweater, as well as the gray tights from the first look. Wedged lace-up boots add a rugged vibe, while a bow-shaped belt adds interest. Grab a quilted bag and a pair of faux-leather gloves to complete this look.
3. Utilitarian Chic

This last outfit is a stylish mix of feminine and edgy elements. Pairing a pretty peplum dress with a puffer coat and studded gloves creates a unique combination that’s perfect for winter.

For a similar look, pair a purple peplum dress with a hooded puffer coat. Add some opaque black tights, as well as a pair of heeled boots. A cute belt helps to define the waistline of the dress, while studded gloves give the outfit some edge. Finish this look by accessorizing with a blush-colored clutch.

Burberry Prorsum always have some stunning ensembles, although I must say that this collection is my least favourite out of the past few, but that probably just comes from my preference for military-esque over peplum!
One thing I have been noticing recently though is how behind fashion seems to be on the graphic tees and knits, which have been popular for really quite a while now. Even the high street shops picked up on that before the “designers” (especially with owls!). Burberry seems to be going a bit backwards with that one, but I guess if it is popular, why not…?
