Crochet UGG Boots

Nicole Richie wearing Crochet Ugg Boots
Nicole Richie in her
Crochet UGG’s

I have a confession to make: I really never thought I’d say this in my lifetime, but, here goes: I actually like a certain pair of UGG boots.

Those who know me well recognize that I’m usually anti-UGG. (They’re right up there at the top of my hate list with wearing pajamas to class!) I could go on and on about why UGG’s are played out and worn the wrong ways, but I’ll save that for another time.

My biggest gripe with UGG’s, however, is that they really aren’t very attractive as far as shoes go. I’m usually in favor of much cuter footwear, and I can’t justify spending over a hundred bucks on something that I can’t stand to look at.

I hate to say it, but I think I may have changed my mind about UGG’s. The other day, when I saw the picture of Nicole Richie on the right, I totally fell in love with her adorable Crochet UGG’sWomen's UGG Australia Classic Crochet Tall! They look so slouchy, cozy and adorable. Perfect for keeping warm and comfy in the winter. I really can’t believe myself, but.. I actually really want a pair.

The boots Nicole has on are the UGG Australia Classic Crochet TallWomen's UGG Australia Classic Crochet Tall - Black boots in black, and they retail for about $120.00.

What do you think? Have I totally lost my mind (it is crunch time at my school, so that’s possible), or are those UGG’s actually cute? Should I get them or save my money for something else? Are you mad at me for hating on UGG’s in the first place? Let me know your opinions in the comments!

I am totally mad at you for hating on UGGS and then wanting a pair. As an owner of two pairs of UGGs i DEFINITELY do not buy them for the looks, they are practical! Living in NYC, these winters are brutal and UGGs are the perfect way to keep those feet warm. I’m done bashing you now! GO GET THOSE UGGs! You will not be sorry!! Love ya :)

Haha Christy I love how you said you secretly have an obsession with uggs, thats kinda how I feel now that I like the crochet ones…

And Pee thanks for not hating on me too much haha, but I think uggs are impractical because they aren’t waterproof! So they keep your feet warm but you cant wear them in the snow which kinda defeats the purpose in a way? Idk, but either way the crochet ones are cute and I think I may need to get them….. :)

for the record, from the ugg website you can buy UGG waterproof spray…you put it on your boots and then they are waterproof

ps UGG’s were not originally made to by stylish, they were made to be waterproofed and then used for heavy duty hiking in the bush in australia…australians laugh hysterically at american teenagers/women wearing them as a fashion statement because lets be honest, they arent cute @ all..

I’m still not a fan of these crochet ones but Delia*s sells crochet “sweater boots” that I think are incredibly adorable…also not waterproof but I don’t mind because they look incredibly cute with jeans and theyre adjustable between a short scrunched look and stretched out for a higher-cut

I think you’ve lost it, school pressure must be getting to you :-P You hated UGGs and you picked particularly ugly ones to fall in love with.

And lol at Alli’s comment about Australians laughing at Americans for wearing these as fashion statements.

UGGs are up there with crocs for me as the crazy things designers try to make us wear and think it’s actually fashionable just for laughs :-P

Aside from this very off post, I really love this blog!

I was anti-Uggs until I was convinced to try a pair on. They aren’t cute at all, but in the winter they’re the warmest (and most comfortable) shoes I have. I live in Colorado and I wore them last year in the huge snow storm and you can’t even tell. Just make sure you waterproof them. I own 2 tall pair, 2 short pair, and the pair Nicole has on. And I’m getting another pair for Christmas. Trust me, you’ll love them. Besides flip flops, they’re my favorite shoe to wear.

I love Uggs. I live in Maine and they are perfect for keeping my toesies warm! During an actual snow storm, however, I wear a more waterproofed boot. Even though Uggs are not that cute they are extremely practical for this part of the country!

    p.s I love your blog!

Sorry, I hate them. COMPLETELY. It seems that a lot of people on here like them, though… I agree with Kat. They’re like crocs. Everyone seems to love them, but they’re truly ugly.

It’s sad people even waste money on these things. How often does it snow in frigging Australia, and some how every bimbo in Boston wears them, and then complains when they get stained from the water. Do us a favor and spend that 200 dollars on one of those goofy as bags to carry your former dignity around in.

Alli – That’s good to know. I don’t own any uggs yet so I didn’t know about the waterproof spray. They make more sense to me now, haha.

Kat – Your comment just cracked me up. Thanks for still liking the blog even though you think I’m nuts, haha.

Addison – Me too. I didn’t understand the ugg fuss til I tried my little sisters on – I can see why people wear them so often, they are really cozy.

Marleah – Thanks so much for the comment, and yah, I’m sure in Maine you need a more heavy-duty footwear than a pair of uggs!

Courtney – It’s cool that you hate them – they definitely aren’t for everyone.

Carly – Haha, pictures of Nicole Richie always seem to have that affect on me too. I just love her style! Or should I say her stylist’s style? Either way, she’s fabulous!

Hello – Do me a favor and spread your ugly comments elsewhere. You don’t have to love them but calling people who wear uggs “bimbos” is just stupid of you. Oh, and I don’t know what “ugly as” bag you’re referring to, but I bet you probably have quite a few of them in your closet.

    Hello Everyone.
ACTUALLY to be quite frank these are not UGG boots whatsoever. These are LIVS crochet boots. Which UGGs copied the LIVS.
    Check them out
    http://www.livs.biz
They are the original and WAY WAY cuter than the UGGS hidious version of them

I don’t think uggs should be worth as much as they are. but i agree with you that those ones she is wearing look really cute with her outfit. though i dont know what else id wear with those shoes…there are lots of big boots that arent over 100$ that are cuter than uggs though so yea i’d look for some of those 1 cause i hate having something that everyone else has and 2. youcould probably find something cuter than those that could go with mroe things… 8)

I’m the daughter of the original designer of these crochet boots which in fact as Amy pointed out up there are not UGGS but in fact, LIVS. As you can see in other pictures such as these : http://bp3.blogger.com/_dAWH3c1hWBo/Ro5VnNPDtxI/AAAAAAAAB4Q/N_L7QxBxoyY/s400/10.jpg Nicole Richie does in fact have the LIVS. The LIVS have a red name tag going down them on the back which the UGGS do not have. Plus, they do not have sheepskin inside of them as the UGGS do which makes them washable.
I would appreciate if the blogger corrected this error in advertising LIVS as UGGS so that this error does not get spread further.
    Thanks guys

    Liv

Amy – I was under the impression that UGG bought the Liv’s design out. So liv’s doesn’t make those particular boots anymore do they? Even if those are the boots nicole is wearing, the fact still is that the UGG version is the new version of those Liv’s, correct? Let me know if I have this wrong or anything.

Netty – I agree, uggs are expensive and I wish they weren’t! Also, the Ugg version is nearly identical so I don’t really have a problem liking them. As I said before, my sister has the crochet ones and they are adorable and so comfy!

Olivia – I checked out that picture and you must be right – the boots do have the red tag as you say. I was emailed by someone else from Liv’s however and they said that Liv’s was bought out by UGG recently. If this is true, would it even be possible to still purchase those Liv’s boots? If so, please send me a link so I can correct it. If it’s not possible, then the UGGs are the best alternative option to get Nicole’s look, so I won’t remove all UGGs links.

I definately know how you feel about initially hating Uggs but then converting after spying the crochet pair. I’m actually wearing my brown crochet Uggs right now ;)… they’re so comfy and cute for winter!
By the way, the ones Nicole Richie had on were Livs, not Uggs.

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU! the original uggs are really UGG-LY. but the crochet ones are super cute. i was just wondering from anyone who has them, do they fit as loose as nicole richie makes them look, or is that just her?? in pics they don’t look like they’d be super loose and if what clare wrote is true, then they’re probably different. peaase hurry up too, because i have my eye on a pair on ebay!!

Bree – My sister has the crochet UGGs and they do fit loose – if you tuck pants into them obviously they will fit tighter but you can definitely scrunch them down if you want. The ones Nicole has on are apparently Liv’s, but Liv’s was bought out by UGGs so the crochet uggs are the closest boots you can get now. Hope that helped!

I am buying a pair of Crochet Uggs today after work actually! I used to hate them too. I would wear heels to school everyday and kill my feet and i would always try to look good for other people.
now its too bad. . .those are the most comfortable shoes in the world and right now i would much rather have comfort of fashion.

These Crochet boots were made first by a company called LIVS frm England. Sienna Miller was wearing them about 2 years ago. Then UGGS copied the LIVS and came out with their own crochet style.

Ha, I personally love UGG Boots. I have Classic Tall (brown), Classic Short (black), Coquette Slippers (chesnut) and the Classic Crochet Tall (gray).

I think if worn right, they can be really cute! For example, with the Classic Short boots, some people wear their pants over the UGG boot. Ew! I found an example of cute ways to wear them.

i got these really good deal of uggs for $70 and they’re tall crochet chestnut uggs. they’re comfortable! the only thing that bugs me is that it gets lose in a matter of time so it’ll hang while you’re walking if you don’t fold it. but it’s good.

Australians don’t “laugh hysterically at american teenagers/women wearing them as a fashion statement .” Australians actually like Ugg boots. They’re really popular in Australia and is probably one of the most popular boots that is worn in the streets. I personally don’t like them and DO NOT own one, but I would know because I live in Australia.
