So, my "middle ground" was getting a really cute North Face backpack (for under $75) and a Coach wristlet ($48) to keep my phone, wallet, keys, and chapstick in. It's definitely a more affordable option than the coach purse that I fell in love with, but was $300! I spread my work so that I do the text stuff at home, and I thankfully don't have teachers that demand taking textbooks.
