While many people may know SCAD for their fashion department, it turns out that students from every department have inspirational personal style. For instance, I spotted Megan on my way out of Bergen Hall, the photography building. After seeing her around a few times before, I decided it was a great time to ask her all about her fashion sense.

Let’s Talk Fashion
Who or what inspires your style? “My style is inspired from a variety of media including magazines, TV shows, and fashion photography. I also pay close attention to what others around me wear and create outfits based on what catches my eye.”
What advice would you give to students looking to improve their style? “The main thing I have to tell other students is to be yourself! If you see someone else’s style that you adore, it’s great to be inspired, but don’t try to be that person. Take that inspiration and create outfits that reflect your own personality!”
What are your favorite trends? “At this moment, I’m really digging high-waisted shorts and skirts, dresses with low-cut or open backs, and blazers with rolled-up sleeves. Vintage clothing is another trend I will never get tired of!”
Do you have any favorite designers? If so, who? “Designers are not really important to me. I buy whatever I find visually appealing, that fits well, and is available at a great price!”
What do you like to do for fun? Any interests or hobbies? “My main hobby is photography, but I also love music. Music is my main source of inspiration for my photography. In addition, I also love spending quality time with family and friends, as well as traveling and exploring the outdoors!”
If you could raid anyone’s closet, who would it be and why? “I would jump at the chance to raid Stacy London’s closet. With her being the fashion expert that she is, there’s no doubt that everything would be super stylish and trendy.”
Elements of Megan’s Outfit
1. Crocheted Belt
Oftentimes, picking the right shirt to wear with a skirt can be tricky. With high-low skirts in particular, the flowy material matched with a loose-fitting shirt can create a lack of structure. However, Megan cinched her waist with a wide crocheted belt, which gave the outfit that much-needed structure, while still maintaining a soft, feminine look. This accessory keeps the ensemble looking pretty and polished.
2. Spring Sandals
Megan’s gladiator-style sandals are an incredible addition to her outfit. Although neutral, these on-trend embellished sandals are a nice contrast to her coral-colored skirt.
3. Light Touches
Megan’s accessories are simple, but still make an impact. Her classic pearl earrings complement the feminine vibe of her outfit, while her braided ‘do adds a romantic touch.
