Looks on Campus: Nora – Binghamton University

After a year apart, I have finally reunited with my twin sister in Taiwan, our home country! I’m not trying to be biased, but I just feel that I have to feature her on College Fashion for her cute and unique sense of style – I swear I’d still feature her if she wasn’t my sister! With her polka dot shirt and simple shorts, Nora effortlessly stood out in a crowd of floral dresses and T-shirts on the busy streets in Taipei.

Let’s Talk Fashion
What inspires you in terms of fashion? Fashion magazines and runway models
Who are your fashion idols? Jun Hasegawa, Blake Lively
Where do you like to shop? “The little vintage stores and night markets in Taipei. I can always find fashionable items seen on magazines, and the friendly prices are definitely a plus!”
What motivates you to dress up? “It makes me feel happier and more confident.”
Any fashion tips? Or Fashion Do’s and Don’ts? “Don’t just follow the ‘trends’; be yourself and wear what’s comfortable for you. Also, hats are must-haves for me. They always make the outfits stand out more. For example, berets give you a chic look while caps make you look casual and sporty. And of course, they are great for bad hair days!”
What is the next item you want? “A pair of cute rain boots and a bandage skirt.”
What are some trends you love right now? “I am loving the jumpsuits! Can’t wait to get a pair in the summer!”
Elements of Nora’s Outfit
1. Polka Dots
I have always thought that polka dots immediately bring out an optimistic and feminine look. And if you love the French retro style like Nora, a polka-dotted piece will easily help you to achieve the look. For those of you who are fashion-forward and want to try something new for summer, I encourage you to be the first one in your circle to sport these fashionable circles!
2. Waist Belt

Waist belts have been my absolute favorite accessory ever since high school, and I know that there’s no way for me to live without them. They create an hour glass figure (even if you don’t have a curvy body!) and can easily transform your old, simple clothes into a new, trendy look.
3. Short Shorts

Get ready to show some leg this summer! Not only are they adorable, but hot pants have been all over the runway shows, so they are definitely a safe bet, if you have the confidence to rock them!
Not enough of Nora?
I’m always so proud to have a beautiful twin like her, and since sharing is caring, I thought I’d end this post with some more outfit pictures of Nora’s. Hope you guys enjoyed reading this post as much as I enjoyed writing it. :)

Coincidentally, I’m going Taipei with my friends next week!! (yeah, I’m Asian too) After browsing Taiwan magazines and as evident from this post, I must admit the girls there are fashionistas in their own sense.
Hopefully I’ll be able to find some of treasure coves your post mentioned and be charged graciously. (Heard that the people over there may raise prices if they know you’re the tourist. No offense, since this is common in many other countries)

I actually wrote about how to wear polka dots a few days ago

Don’t worry about nepotism – Nora looks great! A perfect choice for the blog. Her shorts are a liiiittle too short for her, but I love the belt & shoes!

Oh wow you finally interviewed Nora and wrote about her fashion :)
I like Nora’s hair on the picture on the left at the bottom!
Her dress in the picture next to it makes her look like she’s ready for summer haha (though I don’t know much about fashion :p)
Great post, once again!

I’m glad you’re coming to Taiwan! Hope you will enjoy your trip ;)
Yea, it’s unfortunately common in many countries that people raise prices for foreigners, but if you speak the language or have a local friend, it’d definitely help! Many times you’ll realize there are same/similar pieces within a few stores, so always try to bargain! . Sometimes it might not work but it doesn’t hurt to try right :)?
Alice-
I don’t believe ALL asians dress the same. In Taiwan alone there are quite many different styles, but of course there would be mainstream (in Taiwan, Japanese style is more popular) but I think it’s inevitable because they’d like to follow the trend. But I guess it’s true that in Asia people may look more similar because it’s part of the culture- it is more of a “collective culture,” so people tend to follow the group more.
Hope this helps! It’s just my two cents :)
And thanks for everyone else’s comments! :D

actually I like harajuku fashion, this is quite unique & wild.

nora is cute cute cute!!! there’s a taiwanese girl on campus who is probably the most fashionable person i know, it really kills me how cute and put-together she always looks. i’ve definitely stolen some ideas from her–and now from nora too :)

Wow, I can not believe that you are a twin! And her look is so feminine and adorable. It is perfect for her age and she has a youthful appearance. What a lucky girl! You should post your style on here so we know what you look like and also how you dress.
