Looks on Campus: Miros – University of Washington

Looks on Campus, Miros

Known for her bubbly personality, Miros never shies away from colors and sparkles when it comes to fashion. I know that many of us believe “the key to style is to focus on one aspect only,” but I beg to differ after seeing Miros’s stunning outfit today. In this post, you will see how Miros adroitly makes fashion don’ts into do’s and introduces us to some new fashion concepts.

Miros, our college fashionista of the week

Let’s Talk Fashion

How would you describe your style?
I like to mix styles, and it also depends on my mood. I love to look young and girly, and I can’t resist small details like flowers.

Who or what inspires you in terms of fashion?
My mom. She has always had a good sense of fashion, and her friend Augusta who has a boutique in Germany always tell us about the new trends in Europe!

Where do you like to shop?
I love Zara, Bebe, Forever 21 and Club Monaco.

Any fashion tips?
Be creative with accessories, leggings are your best friends when you don’t know what to wear, and choose shoes wisely because they can either make you or break you!

What motivates you to dress up?
I simply enjoy spending time choosing my clothes and doing make up with music on! This is an important part of my day and helps me to feel good all day long.

Elements of Miros’s Outfit

What I love the most about this outfit is how Miros incorporates many disparate elements into her outfit but still manages to look oh-so-chic and put-together. Let’s look at her outfit in a little more detail!

1. Sequin Jacket

Sequin jacket

Sequins have been a huge trend since last year, but many of us limit them to nighttime-wear only. But look at how beautiful this pink sequin jacket looks under the sunlight! It definitely pulls together the whole look.

Also, as Miros shows us, contrary to what we’d normally think, it’s actually not too challenging to pull off sequins during the day. If you want to bring your style to another level and are not satisfied being just-another-trendy-chick-with-a-leather-jacket, try a sequined one instead!

2. Mix & Match: Three colors

Three colors

Do you think incorporating three main colors into one outfit is tough? Well, it’s certainly not for Miros. Here she shows us a simple yet practical way to mix and match. Instead of randomly putting colors together, she matches her “hair band” with her bag, and her tank top with her watch and shoes. Finally, she leaves the pink jacket to stand out as the focal point.

On a side note, I was never a huge fan of watches and Converse shoes (as they may be too “casual” for a trendy look,) but Miros has me rethinking them!

3. The Varied & Versatile Scarf

If you are wondering why I wrote “hair band” in quotes in the last paragraph, now you know! It’s because Miros’s “hair band” is actually a scarf. This is a great fashion trick to try yourself; as the weather gets warmer, why not convert your warm scarf into a stylish hair band? There are so many ways to play around with it, just be creative and have fun!

    Toronto Representin’! lol <3

I need to figure out my hair so I can wear a scarf too! I like them! Maybe I'll just cheat and buy one of those headbands that look like scarves!

    She's cute!

I actually disagree. No offense, but personally, I this outfit is over the top from the pink colored sequins to the matching Coach scarf and Coach bag. Nothing bothers me more than obnoxiously flaunting a brand name. This is also a good example of how NOT to wear sequins during the day time.

I agree Liz ^^ but her sweet and energetic personality definitely shined through in your interview, so I will ignore the unimpressive outfit. I loved her fashion advice! Good pick :]

very few people know how to mix and match different styles and patterns and pull it off. Miros did a great job with the sequin top, she was able to dressed it down in a nice way (few people can pull this off without it looking trashy). Anyways great job miros, your unique and daring style is very fashion forward, kind of reminds me of gossip girl lol <3

I understand that some people may think it’s a bit too overwhelming, but I definitely think Miros pulled it off really well! Plus, I don’t think it’s obnoxious to “flaunt” a brand name when you really love a certain brand. I believe that’s a personal choice. I personally don’t have the money and the passion for a certain logo/brand, but I think Miros showed us a great way to mix and match! I’d definitely get a scarf and a matching bag, like the inspired outfits in this article! SUPER CUTE!

    AHHHH legging aren’t pants!

    May 20th, 2010 at 12:03 pm

Lalaina – She’s not wearing plain old leggings as pants; they’re denim leggings (jeggings), usually meant to be worn more like pants. The picture doesn’t show it well, though!

I don’t think the leggings/jeggings do very much to flatter her figure and I agree with one of the other posters above, i don’t love brand flaunting and that outfit is a little too coach-tastic for my liking.

I like the outfits that were inspired by her, really great job ob those

She is very pretty but I dont like the outfit. The jeggings didnt go with the outfit and the tennis shoes made it look like she just came from a morning jog. I like the pieces but not together

Regardless of what material leggings are made out of – they don’t flatter a girl with a fuller figure.

    May 20th, 2010 at 2:27 pm

Sarah – It’s a good thing she doesn’t have a fuller figure, then. Anyway, as always, our philosophy here is that anyone can wear whatever they want and pull it off with confidence. Body shape/size has nothing to do with it. I personally don’t believe that anyone with a “fuller figure” (which, BTW, is NOT how I’d describe Miros) can’t wear something they like because some ridiculous rule or random person on the internet says so. People should wear what they want – this whole dressing to hide some body part philosophy needs to GO!

Anyway, as always, guys, if you see stylish girls on campus and want to send us looks from yourself or those girls who you think should be here, email them to us!! zephyr AT collegefashion DOT net.

Thanks for the clarification Zephyr, it wasn’t clear that they were jeggings. I am still not a fan of the look. Like others have said she seems like she has a great personality when it comes to fashion, but I think this outfit is off the mark. One of the pictures of her from the bottom, in the red coat (which looks super unique and cool) looks like a better example of fun fashion!

I like the second outfit that u put together.
It’s really casual but also stylish :)
And when we put on the sequin jacket it just turns out to be so much more mature and formal!
