Prada Spring 2015 RTW

Prada Spring 2015 RTW | ELLE

To start off a new fashion season (and Runway Looks for Less season!), I chose to feature Prada’s Spring 2015 RTW collection. Not only was it fabulously gorgeous, but it also featured the return of the legendary Gemma Ward.

Of course, after we got over Gemma’s return, our attention moved to all the stylish outfits and their unique details. For example, the different layers of various outfits are perf for the cool/warm and overall temperamental spring weather. There was fab top-stitch detailing in the equally fab coats, pretty full skirts, little sweater vests, and lace. Some outfits even had a more boho feel with mismatched prints and colors, such as bright red and deep mustard.

Are you in love with Prada’s new spring looks, but aren’t so willing to sacrifice that Christmas money? Keep reading for three lower-priced outfits inspired by this collection:

1. Knit + Leather

We love the combination of prep and edge in this outfit. The sweater vest adds a "country club" vibe, while the sheer top and leather skirt add some toughness. The accessories (drop earrings and bright yellow pumps) contribute to this juxtaposition.

To recreate this outfit, start off with a faux leather pencil skirt. Slip on a black sweater vest over a sheer button-down blouse. Style with a pair of yellow pumps; here, we chose solid-colored pumps over floral for a sleek look. Accessorize with glam drop earrings and finish the ensemble with a classic cat-eye.

2. Classic Lace Detailing

The color combo of black and camel/beige tends to look a little drab, but not in this outfit! The leather skirt has yellow floral cutouts while the black top has a cool lace pattern. The knee-high socks and tall boots add the perfect finishing touches to this internship-ready look.

First, choose a camel or beige-colored full skirt to pair with a high-neck, lace top. While this skirt doesn’t have the quirky floral accents, we chose to accessorize with fun gold bangles and drop earrings. Instead of socks, we went with patterned tights, then finished the look with tall boots with a side-zip detailing.

3. Prints on Prints

Mixing prints can be a scary thing, especially if you’ve never done it before. However, Mother Miuccia has created the ultimate mixed-print outfit. We love the floral pattern of the skirt paired with the more abstract look of the coat. All in all, this is definitely an outfit I want in my closet NOW.

To channel Prada, start with a floral mini skirt to style with a bright red sweater. Choose a calf-length coat in a black-and white print (here you can go crazy and choose whatever print you prefer!). Again, instead of knee socks - which we know aren’t preferred by everyone in super-cold weather - we opted for tights to slip on under a fab pair of ankle-strap platform pumps. To complete the look, pick drop earrings and swipe on a neutral-colored lipstick.
