BCBG Max Azria Spring 2014 RTW | ELLE

As a personal fashion rule, I used to try and stay away from what I considered to be “traditionally feminine” fashions. For me, BCBG Max Azria fit into that category. However, as my fashion tastes developed, I began to like a couple of pieces by Max Azria, and when BCBG’s Spring 2014 RTW collection walked down the runway, I knew my love for the brand was solidified.

The loose-fitting pieces featured on-trend colors, like blue and white, along with the slightly darker but always chic combination of florals and black. Azria continued this juxtaposition by pairing heavy cottons with lighter silks and mesh. With this collection, BCBG Max Azria definitely showed the fashion world why, after almost twenty-five years, it’s still a household name.

Want a bit of this fashion house’s spring collection in your closet without spending a ton of cash? Read on for three budget-friendly looks inspired by the always fab BCBG!

1. Little White Dress

Just like the LBD, the Little White Dress has also been accepted into the fashion hall of fame. In this outfit, Azria plays with the LWD concept with a spring-ready shirtdress. A snake-print jacket edges up the casual dress, but the neutral lace-up heels work to balance out the edginess and keep the outfit perfect for a dinner out or an internship.

Start off with a trendy white shirtdress in a similar silhouette. We love this brown snake-print jacket (remember: tan and brown are chic and spring-ready alternatives to black!) which we paired with cut-out, lace-up heels. Add a swipe of lipstick in a "your lips but better" hue, then finish the look with delicate boho-inspired accessories, like these drop earrings and daisy ring.

2. Delicate Edge

From the crisp pleated bottoms to the asymmetrical embroidered mesh blouse, this outfit was quickly coveted by yours truly the moment I laid eyes on it. There’s something fun yet sophisticated about this look - it's high-fashion, but it's also totally wearable. Plus, who wouldn't want these killer black shoes in their closet?

For a runway-ready look, pair an on-trend midi skirt with a lace crop top that channels the embroidery on the original top. Choose a pair of chunky flat sandals that are both practical and appropriate for warm weather. To get the model’s gorgeous straight locks, take out your flat iron, but don’t forget heat protectant!

3. Flowers and Leather

Nothing says pretty and feminine like a floral print, and in this look Azria expertly adorned the delicate print to a fierce strappy top. A leather vest adds a bit of a biker edge, while the chic tailored trousers ground the outfit.

Recreate this outfit by pairing a strappy floral top with loose yet structured pants. Choose a faux leather vest and comfy but trendy pointed-toe shoes. Accessorize with a gold-and-black cuff and thin gold rings to add some pizazz to the outfit. Lastly, play off the gold from the jewelry with a bit of gold-toned neutral eyeshadow.
