Fashion Inspiration: Lilo from Walt Disney’s Lilo & Stitch

We continue our Disney fashion series with one of their most unique (and most CF reader-requested) tales, Lilo & Stitch.

The story follows a little blue alien named Experiment 626, otherwise known as Stitch. After being detained for wreaking havoc, Stitch manages to escape to planet Earth, or more specifically, Hawaii. There, he meets a little girl named Lilo, who takes him in as a pet, not knowing that he is actually from another planet. Nonetheless, Lilo and Stitch soon become best friends and, at the conclusion of the movie, learn the true meaning of family.

Being the adorable but sassy little girl that she is, Lilo is perfect to use as a source of fashion inspiration. Her warm seaside home allows her to wear bright and fun outfits throughout the movie, featuring colors that would be great for spring and summer looks. To help you channel her look in a non-costumey way, I’ve created four real life-wearable looks inspired by Lilo.

Outfit 1

Capture a colorful and girly aesthetic in this outfit. Wear a coral-colored crochet sundress with a pair of sandal pumps in a contrasting color. Add dainty floral stud earrings and grab a cute straw clutch to finish this feminine ensemble!

For a more beach-inspired outfit, wear a bright yellow tank dress under a green cardigan. A pair of neutral espadrille wedges and a simple leaf charm necklace complete this pretty look.

Outfit 3

This outfit puts a playful twist on the beachwear look based on Lilo’s style. A sunny yellow blouse paired with colored chino shorts creates a fun look that’s perfect for warmer weather. Gladiator sandals keep the outfit comfy but chic. For accessories, add a cute tropical flower clip to your hair and wear a fish pendant necklace.

Outfit 4

Inspired by Lilo’s hula dancing attire, this outfit has a more muted vibe but is still in keeping with her beach-inspired look. Wear a red tank with an army green flowy skirt. Layer with a knitted sweater in a neutral color and t-strap sandals to give a relaxed aesthetic. A pair of tiered leaf earrings adds to the tropical theme and completes the outfit.

What do you think?

Have you seen Lilo & Stitch? Would you wear any of the looks above? Which outfit is your favorite? Would you like to see more posts like these in the future? Let me know in the comments!

I have to share a ridiculous and somewhat politically incorrect story: When this movie came out, this became the Lilo and Stitch became the nick-name for me and my best friend. I was a girl of colour, and my best friend’s last name was Stitch – ergo were Lilo and Stitch for the rest of that school year.

I love this! Lilo & Stitch is my favorite Disney movie and I’ve always loved the look and colors! And especially the creativity of all of the other experiments in the TV series. I always admired Nani’s tomboy look too, and Pleakley’s flamboyant cross-dressing!!!

So sweet! This used to be one of my favorite movies. Love the ideas, & the third outfit (minus the necklace& a different color palette), no lie, I was just thinking about today for when I go down to the beach. Could you do a post on Robin Hood or Peter Pan next? Thanks for writing!

Ahhh! That first look is amazing! Loved this post. Two of my favourite movies when I was young were Anastasia and the Swan Princess, it would be amazing if you could do sets for one of those movies next.

Gotta compliment this post. I should have done some school cathing up – but I just wanted to check college fashion.
I really like the first, and the last outfit. I never wear skirts, because I cant seam to find one that will suit me, I think the last skirt actually might look good on me! THX

This is such a sweet, funny movie- I love Lilo and Stitch! And this encourages me to wear more color, which I don’t do very often
