Fashion Inspiration: Demi Lovato’s “Let It Go”

Demi Lovato Let It Go Music Video

After seeing Disney’s Frozen, I couldn’t help but obsess over its soundtrack – particularly this track performed by Demi Lovato. In the movie, “Let It Go” is a power ballad sung by Elsa (Idina Menzel), and Demi’s version is the perfect rendition.

If you haven’t heard the song or seen the video, catch it below!

While you can see the outfits based on the movie in this previous CF post, this week, I was inspired by Demi’s edgy yet glam getup in the music video. Scroll down to view both looks!

Capture Demi’s edgy-glam aesthetic with a few key pieces. First, slip on a sequined dress and a pair of ankle booties. Contrast the girly vibe of the dress with a black leather bow belt, and wear a link statement necklace for an extra luxe feel. Complete the ensemble with a pearl cluster bracelet and gem stud earrings.

Steal Demi’s darker look with a black sheer top and acid wash jeans. Layer the top with a faux leather bustier for an extra edge. Slip on a pair of black pumps with a metallic strap for a trendy twist, then accessorize with stud earrings and a cocktail ring to finish off this fierce outfit.

What do you think?

Just a music comment, not really relevant, but…

I think, while Demi’s version is good, the original one by Idina Menzel is a bit better. She just has a stronger, Broadway quality to her voice, which gives this song more power. It’s kind of like the difference between Samantha Barks’ rendition of “On My Own” in the Les Mis movie, versus her rendition on Broadway.

Anyway, I’m definitely planning on wearing something really similar to the first outfit to a holiday party coming up! Thanks.

I prefer Demi’s version of the song. I think the other version sounds kinda strained and painful at times and unnatural. I love both of these outfits though, particularly the nude dress and the leather bustier and black shirt. x
