Celebrity Street Style of the Week: Malin Akerman, Reese Witherspoon, & Nicky Hilton

Every week, I scour the web to find inspiring outfits on your favorite celebs and help you recreate their looks! This week, I was inspired by Malin Akerman, Reese Witherspoon, and Nicky Hilton. Read on to see how you can get their looks for yourself.

Look 1: Malin Akerman’s Bold Maxi Dress

Actress Malin Akerman spiced up a simple black maxi dress with some bold pieces for a statement-making look. She wore her basic black dress with a brown motorcycle jacket, a leopard print scarf, and some fab black booties.

You may normally think of wearing maxi dresses in the summer and spring, but by adding cool boots, along with a scarf and jacket (and maybe some leggings underneath if it’s cold where you are), you can easily rock these summer staples in colder weather.

I was digging the brown and black combo that Malin had going on, and I especially loved how the leopard scarf tied the colors together. To get a similar look, start with the dress and scarf. A slouchy motorcycle jacket complements the outfit’s bold vibe, as do some cool spiked bracelets. Wear black ankle booties to finish off the look – you could go for the slouchy, tough-girl vibe with boots like Malin’s, or try booties with a small heel for some chic height.

Look 2: Reese Witherspoon’s Classic Preppy Look

Reese Witherspoon is known for her classically preppy style, and this week, she stayed true to her aesthetic in a red checked shirt, a black sweater, black skinny jeans, quilted riding boots, and a camel-colored wool coat.

I love Reese’s outfit for its subtle pop of color: Her shirt adds a fun hint of color and print to her all-black ensemble, while the coat and boots pull it all together.

I’m a big fan of wearing black on black, because it’s not only chic, but could not be easier to put together. By adding touches like quilted riding boots and a pop of pattern from a checkered shirt, the outfit becomes more than basic. Finish the outfit off with a camel-colored coat for some much-needed contrast… and warmth!

Look 3: Nicky Hilton’s Trendy Urban-Chic Look

Nicky Hilton rocked the wedge sneaker trend while doing some shopping this week. Her look was trendy but functional for a day around town, consisting of stretchy acid-wash skinny jeans, a black sweater, and an olive green coat with fur-trimmed hood. Much like Reese, Nicky stuck to a dark color palette and let her coat and shoes do all the talking.

This look starts with a simple combo: acid wash jeans and a black sweater, after all, are super easy to throw together. (Black jeans or jeggings would work here, too.) Make your outfit stand out by trying some wedge sneakers – these ones boast an olive green color to match the army green puffer coat. The coat itself, the finishing piece, is awesome because it looks super warm, and its black toggle detailing makes a chic little statement.

Nicky’s outfit is so laid back and effortless. I like it on her. She looks very “Williamsburg”.

Hanna – Ahh, you are correct! But how do you make that Å (other than copy and pasting, like I just did)? I need to learn the keyboard shortcut!

Zephyr – I’m actually swedish so I have an Å on my keyboard :) I understand if it’s easier to just write an A, so keep doing so!
