Celebrity Street Style of the Week: Lucy Hale, Rachel Bilson, and Miley Cyrus

Celeb street style - Lucy Hale, Rachel Bilson, and Miley Cyrus

Every week, I scour the web to find inspiring outfits on your favorite celebs and help you recreate their looks! This week, I was inspired by Lucy Hale, Rachel Bilson, and Miley Cyrus. Read on to see how you can get their looks for yourself.

Look 1: Lucy’s Mixed Prints

Lucy Hale, of Pretty Little Liars (you can get her character, Aria’s wardrobe here) was spotted out in California in a cute and club-ready outfit, consisting of a tight bandage skirt, floral top, cropped leather biker jacket, black pumps, and a leopard-print satchel. I’m loving the way she mixed her florals with animal print, and how her tight skirt and cropped jacket balance out the flowing top.

I have to say, my favorite piece of this look is the leopard-print shoulder bag. The wild (literally!) print is balanced out by the classic shape– I’m envisioning it paired with a khaki trench and some killer heels in a different outfit. Speaking of killer heels, these faux-suede pumps do a nice job of mimicking Lucy’s and will give your gams a boost for a night on the town.

The black form-fitting skirt is a staple in every college girl’s wardrobe– you can pair it with almost anything, and even better, you can easily find one on the cheap. It looks amazing when paired with this floral top that features the same loose structure as Lucy’s with a zipper running down the front. Not only is the zipper on the top a sexy attention-grabber, but it also breaks up the print so it doesn’t overwhelm you. Finally, the cropped motorcycle jacket pulls the look together and gives it a rocker vibe.

Look 2: Rachel’s Shapely Stripes

Rachel Bilson was spotted at the airport in a jean jacket, striped top, flat nude sandals, and a gray– well, I’m not quite sure what her bottom is, to be honest! It’s basically a cross between a maxi skirt and harem pants, so interpret it as you will; I’m going to go with a maxi skirt, since it’s an awesome way to try out a cool trend this fall (also, I know many of you dislike harem pants). This outfit is casual (and looks comfy to fly in!) but maintains a classic and put-together look.

This boatneck striped top is a classic piece that every girl should own. Paired with this light gray maxi skirt, it takes on a whole new meaning and becomes very fashion forward! On top, I added a jean jacket with stretch in it so it’ll be super comfy for those long flights.

For accessories, these leather sandals are flat and comfy– I always love a neutral-colored shoe. Next, I added classic Ray-Ban Wayfarers. (They always seem to end up in my posts!) Finally, I chose this metallic weekend bag, which adds some flair to the look, just as Rachel’s designer weekend bags do.

Look 3: Miley’s Borrowed from the Boys Look- With a Twist!

The paparazzi caught Miley while she was out to dinner, wearing high-waisted denim shorts, a sheer black t-shirt with a scalloped bra peeking out from underneath, some black wooden platforms, a gray shoulder bag, and a cardigan that appears to be borrowed from a boy.

It’s so cool how she mixed the oversized, boyish cardigan with the sexy, revealing shirt. As Miley shows us, by pairing boyish and girlish pieces together, you can create a perfectly balanced look.

Miley Cyrus Outfit

Shorts, Shirt, Bra, Sweater, Shoes, Bag

To re-create Miley’s ensemble, start with a sheer black t-shirt, like this one from Topshop. Make sure it doesn’t fit too tight, or else it might come across as more promiscuous than fashion-y. To wear underneath, I chose this bandeau bra because it is less revealing than Miley’s, but its edges are similar to the scalloped edges on hers. The platform sandals have a vintage look to them, and are super easy to walk in, and the gray shoulder bag is great to toss all of your stuff in.

To balance the entire look out, try stealing a cardigan from a guy in your life– boyfriend, brother, dad, whatever! Or, try this striped cardigan from Abercrombie & Fitch, with a similar color scheme to Miley’s– plus the black A&F logo brings out the black in the outfit nicely.

lucy’s outfit is very feminine and pretty, and is the one i’m most inspired by.
i’m still undecided on the long skirt trend. i try not to be negative and part of me wants to like it, but there’s just something so coldwater creek-y about it.
i’d love to see a post with more ways to wear the maxi skirt!

I’m actually not a fan of any of the looks as a whole. But some of the individual pieces are great– like Lucy’s motorcycle leather jacket, Rachel’s striped top, and Miley’s boy-inspired sweater.

@Courtney I totally agree on the maxi skirts. I’ll give it a shot but so far I’m not a fan of this trend. =/

    Lucy’s outfit is so cute!

I don’t really like the outfits of Miley and Selena. But Rachel’s is okay. You did a great job finding similar looks though!

I agree, Lucy Hale’s outfit and the interpretation are both awesome. The other two, to me, look a bit … sloppy.

I really don’t get the appeal of Rachel Bilson. She always looks like she got dressed in the dark from my grandmother’s closet.

I just want to say I love all the looks! And whether we like or dislike, it is Rachel who is constantly in the media for her outfits. To the author, great job for bringing us versatility because there is something out there for all of us–we all are different, can you imagine if we all like only the same thing?
I personally think it is very rude to comment on something we don’t like; someone else may like it even if you don’t! Show some class girls!

Great post overall but No. 1 rule of a “fashionable” blog that is anywhere past the age of highschoolers should be please absolutely none of this Abercrombie & Fitch (and any of their associated brands included) being posted as actual fashion picks.

Some might say, hey but that sweater has awesome color schemes and it is so fall-preppy chic! Well I say true preppy and fashionable would be finding the same color scheme without the A&F logo. Better yet go buy it and rip that logo right off and to make it truly preppy, replace it with embroidery of your own initials. Or go to your grandfather’s closet and find his old college-stripes cardigan. Or simply go to another store where you can find an equally good alternative without supporting such a horrible yearly clothes-recycling company. A&F likes to think it is the originator of the amazing little logo on everything it can get it’s hands on but if anyone knows anything on prep fashion history, that would be Lacoste!

And I’m not a hater, my wardrobe used to consist of their stuff, but I had a revelation one day in high school as I was really getting into fashion and style as a hobby, that A&F/associated companies lack creativity, taste, and style itself!

Therefore I will pretend I did not see that imposter of a true collegiate sweater on such an awesome blog as this.

@Willow (this isn’t meant to be mean at all) – A comment doesn’t necessarily have to be positive, and the feedback I see posted here isn’t cruel and doesn’t lower the poster’s “class”, or negate the fact that other people can & will like it. Feedback, both positive and negative, shows Demi how her next article can be even better. :)

Anyway, I really liked this, especially Lucy Hale’s outfit and recreation. I like the recreation of Miley’s even better than the original. I’m buying the gray bag right now!

What I said about Rachel Bilson wasn’t meant to insult the author, I don’t know where you got that. I just don’t get the mass appeal that she has. Get over yourself damn

no need for a spat. :)
i’m sure we can all agree that the post itself is great, we’re just answering that lovely, pink, italicized question at the bottom of it: what do you think?
the fun thing about fashion is all the different opinions and ideas.

this is in response to heather’s rant on abercrombie. yes, they produce similar articles of clothing every year..yes they are expensive.

but newsflash, just because you don’t like the company and you don’t think they’re stylish doesn’t mean that the rest of the world thinks the same way.

if you look past all the dumb high school girls who are spoiled and wear nothing but a&f logo hoodies and shorts (which in turn is the reason why A&F has a bad name in the first place), and look at the cut and silhouettes of their pieces…SURPRISE! some of their things are worth it and dare i say…cute.

    so please, calm down.
