Celebrity Street Style of the Week: Coachella 2011 Edition

Celebs at the 2011 Coachella music festival - Alessandra Ambrosio, Kate Bosworth, and Diane Kruger

This week, many of our favorite celebs migrated from New York City and Los Angeles to Indio, California for the amazing Coachella music festival. Coachella is known for its amazing musical lineups, but equally notable is the festival fashion!

With the bounty of celebs milling around at Coachella, this week’s looks were all pulled from the festival; my favorite ensembles were worn by Alessandra Ambrosio, Kate Bosworth, and Diane Kruger. Read on to see how you can get their looks for yourself!

Look 1: Alessandra Ambrosio’s Breezy Boho Look

Supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio looked girly in a flouncy tiered dress. She made her frock music festival-appropriate by adding bohemian touches such as a long printed scarf with fringe detailing, and fistfuls of stacked bracelets. She also wore sunglasses with a retro shape and some slouchy booties with a small heel.

Alessandra’s outfit is centered around an airy, tiered, light-colored dress. The dress I found to recreate her look fits all of these criteria, and also has crochet detailing, adding to the bohemian vibe of the look. A colorful printed scarf with fringe adds vibrancy to the look, and works well with the slouchy booties. Accessorize with some retro-fabulous sunglasses, and pile on the bracelets – this rhinestone toggle bracelet balances girly (the rhinestones) with hippie-chic (the woven shape).

Look 2: Kate Bosworth’s Americana

Kate Bosworth is known for being a trendsetter and is one of my favorite celebs to look to for fashion inspiration.  She didn’t disappoint at Coachella; she wore some off-white shorts with a tank picturing a faded out American flag, lace-up desert boots, along with some aviator sunglasses and lots of piled on jewelry: necklaces, bracelets (and wristbands), and some earrings.  I love the neutral color palate of her look and how her accessories dress up the casual tank and shorts.

Kate’s American flag tank top looks exactly like this one from Topshop, minus the hippie-chic fringe. It’s always fun to DIY your clothes and give them a more personal or unique feel, so feel free to grab some scissors and cut off the fringe if you really want to match Kate’s look!

Continuing with our outfit recreation, some off-white shorts will look awesome with the tank, fringed or not, while blue-tinted aviator sunglasses will work with the outfit’s color palette. Desert boots have been a necessity among the fashion-forward recently, and are a sturdy choice for a music festival. Finish the look by piling on bracelets and necklaces with earthy details, like stones and leather embellishments.

Look 3: Diane Kruger’s Maxi Minimalist Look

Acclaimed actress and fashion darling Diane Kruger looked incredibly chic at Coachella in a neutral maxi skirt and black tank top, with a straw hat on top. She kept her accessories minimal, adding a thin studded belt and two small necklaces.

Maxi skirts are one of the biggest fashion trends this season, and the skin-flaunting shape of Diane’s tank top balances her long skirt for an easy, flattering look that’s perfect for swaying along to the music.

Topshop makes a maxi skirt in a neutral color like Diane’s, but with a unique twist: the material of skirt is sheer, and there’s a mid-length opaque layer underneath. This way, you can still show some leg while rocking your maxi skirt. Tuck in a drop-style tank and accessorize your waist with a thin, studded belt. Then slip on a pair of simple braided sandals for comfort and style points. Finish the look off with a thin necklace (this one features a faux turquoise stone, giving it an earthy vibe) and a straw hat.

These were my three favorite looks also! I especially love the skirt you used to recreate dianes look. maxi skirts always feel a little matronly to me but i love the idea of using a sheer one with the outfit…kind of gives a younger look!

Totally perfect for Coachella. Wish there was a pre-Coachella post, I was struggling to find the perfect outfit!

I love the first outfit! super adorable and wearable for a college student. I’m not a big fan of Kate letting her pockets hang out or Diane letting her breasts hang out! it just ruins the outfits for me.

I absolutely loved the first look! I wouldn’t wear it that short and I don’t wear dresses much but apart from that, I would love to get that outfit!

I also went to Coachella this year! It was amazing
Even though I love Alessandra’s outfit in general, it is seriously not for Coachella. The scarf and high boots are quite impractical and suffocating; it was unbelievably hot! I don’t know how she managed to survive the desert heat in that outfit. Almost every girl attendees dressed like Kate: tank tops and shorts. very practical and cute.

I too loved Alessandra’s look when the Coachella pictures started coming out – desperate to get a scarf like hers, I went on a mad hunt.

I work at Hot Topic, and this scarf came in – and I thought it was perfect.
    So here’s a 2nd option too!

I was hoping you guys would skip Kate Bosworth. Coming from the tumblr-verse, I really don’t want to see anymore girls running around in cut-offs and an American flag t-shirt calling it fashion. It’s trailer park chic at best.

But the other two – bueno!

Diane Kruger has always been one of my style icons and her outfit in this post definitely re-affirms that! Love the combo of the simple black tank with the beige maxi.
