Celebrity Street Style of the Week: Bridgit Mendler, Ashley Benson, & Guliana Rancic

Celebrity Street Style of the Week: Bridgit Mendler, Ashley Benson, & Guliana Rancic

Every week, I scour the web to find inspiring outfits on your favorite celebs and help you recreate their looks! This week, I was inspired by Bridgit Mendler, Ashley Benson, and Guliana Rancic, who all created unique looks around different styles of jeans.  Read on to see how you can get their looks for yourself.

Look 1: Bridgit Mendler’s Bright Ensemble

Singer and actress Bridgit Mendler looked colorfully cute while promoting her latest album in some high-waisted skinny jeans, an orange top, a printed jacket, and some contrasting red heels. Bridgit’s outfit mixes lots of warm colors which make her look really stand out, while still maintaining a ladylike vibe thanks to the structure of her jacket and heels – it’s perfect for any occasion where you need to look put-together.

Bridgit’s look is ladylike but super youthful at the same time, thanks to the bright hues and fun pattern of the jacket. Casually tuck in an orange tank into some high-waisted skinny jeans, and dress them up with a jacket that features a multi-colored pattern. Some colorful pumps dress the look up, as does a refined, structured clutch.

Look 2: Ashley Benson’s Walk on the Dark Side

Ashley Benson was spotted out and about in a cool, casual look featuring a palette of dark colors. Her black skinny jeans and slouchy gray t-shirt looked anything but basic when paired with some leopard-print sneakers, a crochet panel bag, and some dark, oversized sunglasses. Ashley’s shoes and bag are wild and ladylike, respectively, but they all come together to make for a total LA look.

Black skinny jeans are the perfect way to showcase unique shoes; in this case, some leopard-print Vans, which are fun and comfy at the same time. A ladylike bag is a surprisingly cool accent to Ashley’s look: this crochet panel bag is similar to hers. Add some black oversize sunglasses and a pendant necklace and you’re ready to hit the streets!

Look 3: Giuliana Rancic’s Casual Chic

Giuliana Rancic look casual yet stylish while traveling with her hubby this week, rocking some slim, ripped jeans, a black off-the-shoulder top, a striped scarf, brown booties, and a black hat, along with a bold yellow bag for contrast. Giuliana used extras like her high-heeled booties, cool hat, and bright bag to dress up her low-key, ultra-casual jeans.

This look is especially perfect for the springtime: some destroyed slim-fit jeans look great with a black off-the-shoulder top and lots of fun accessories, including a black straw fedora, a striped scarf, sunglasses, and a bright yellow bag. Wear heeled booties like Giuliana if you want to add a chic touch, or add flat sandals for a more casual vibe.

These outfits are all really cute ways to style different types of jeans for different types of days. Props!

But I can’t help but notice that Ashley Benson in the 2nd photo definitely seems like she does NOT want her photo taken. So I’m just curious whether CF in general has an opinion about paparazzi? Although her outfit IS cute and this article is complementary to her, I still feel like it’s kind of icky to use a photograph taken agains the subject’s will. Obviously that is a part of a celebrity’s life, but the more people who oppose the use of those invasive paparazzi photos, the less they might pop up. I’m not saying you guys should stop using them for “Celebrity Street Style,” just wondering if anyone else has an opinion on it.

I’m going to have to agree with Elyse, that was the first thing that popped into my head. I love college fashion, but it seems disrespectful to use a photo that Ashley so obviously did not want to be taken.

Elyse – Thanks for the feedback! You bring up a good point. Our policy is to always try to use photos of celebrities where they seem happy and OK with the photo, but you’re right that this week’s photo of Ashley was questionable. There were photos of her in this outfit where she wasn’t trying to cover her face, but those photos had her bag cut off and didn’t show the outfit well. So it was a judgment call – do we go with the photo where she seems happy but the outfit is obscured, or a different shot where she looks less than thrilled, but the outfit is clear to see? We went with the latter since the post was about her outfit – our first priority is you guys and talking about the fashion. Ideally, though, we would always have clear outfit photos where the celeb is comfortable.

This is an interesting topic in general, though, because I think that, by nature, a post on “celebrity street style” will always involve using paparazzi photos. So we can’t be totally opposed to paparazzi – otherwise, these posts wouldn’t be possible. And at the end of the day, we work for you guys, not the celebrities, so we’re going to try to run the best outfits while balancing a reasonable amount of respect for these public figures. It’s definitely hard, though, and we clearly don’t always get it right.

All that said, we definitely draw the line at photos that are clear invasions of privacy – shot from zoom lenses on a beach, for example, or where a mother is trying to shield her child from being photographed, etc. No matter how great the outfit, you won’t see those here.

I love outfits #1 & #3, and outfit #2 is nice! I love Giuliana Rancic’s outfit the best! I love the slouched shoulder shirt and the destroyed jeans with the striped scarf and bold yellow purse! I would probably wear something like this! I love the point Elyse brought up about using paparazzi photos, and Zephyr, I love your response!
