Celebrity Street Style of the Week: Blake Lively & Kourtney Kardashian

Celebrity street style - Blake Lively and Kourtney Kardashian

Hello, darlings! Another week, another roundup of some of the best celebrity looks from the past 7 days.

In last week’s celebrity street style post, I explained my need to keep up with what’s happening in the world of celebrity, so if you’re like me, you probably already know that this week, Gossip Girl has been filming in Paris! I am très excited for the new season to start, especially in one of the most beautiful cities in the world! And with that, of course, comes the fabulous cast and numerous wardrobe changes.

While I aim to post a variety of celebs, this week, I couldn’t resist posting two of Blake Lively‘s outfits she wore while out and about in Paris – one day look, and one night look. In addition to Blake, I had to feature one chic summer look that Kourtney Kardashian sported on this past week’s episode of Kourtney & Khloe Take Miami.

Just a side-note before we get to the looks: when recreating the celeb outfits, I always try to pick pieces that are within (or close to) a college girl’s budget, therefore, my interpretations are rarely going to be exact replicas! The goal is to look like a celeb without spending all your savings. To see how to recreate the looks above on a budget, read on!

Look 1 – Blake Lively’s Glam Shorts & Blazer

J’adore! In the look above (which Blake wore out to dinner with Karl Lagerfeld!), she is working a black sequined blazer over black high-waisted shorts, a white button-down with a black bra peeking though, insanely high spectator pumps, and a black clutch. This outfit is so perfect for a summer’s night out on the town, and can seamlessly take you from dinner to a party!

To help you make this look yours, I found this gorgeous sequined blazer from Victoria’s Secret that is comparable to Blake’s. Add some black high-waisted shorts, a low-cut white blouse with a black bra peeking through, and these lace-up oxford booties and voilà! You have a sexy twist on a classic and simple outfit.

Generally, I like to add pops of color to outfits with basic color schemes, but in this case, the sequins speak so loudly that extra color isn’t needed, aside from the pop of gold on the clutch. Sometimes it’s better to keep things simple and let your standout pieces shine!

Look 2 – Kourtney Kardashian’s Romper & Blazer Combo

Okay, I’ll admit it: watching the various Kardashian reality shows is one of my guilty pleasures, and I love to check out their outfits while I watch. Kim may be my favorite sister, but I think that Kourtney Kardashian is frequently the best-dressed (and most underrated) of the bunch.

On this week’s episode of Kourtney & Khloe Take Miami, Kourtney wore a silk coral patterned jumpsuit, with a creme blazer, T-strap platforms, a chain-strap bag, and her signature oversized sunglasses. I see this look as a great example of a day-to-night outfit: walk around during the day in the romper with flat sandals, and at night, amp up the glam by throwing the blazer on top and adding heels. Genius!

This romper works for both day and night because of its proportions; the loose fit of the bottom half makes it appropriate for less casual settings, and the sweet scalloping is a fun detail. A white blazer dresses it up, and is also a total summer 2010 staple that you could wear with anything.

When I first saw Kourtney’s outfit above, I immediately noticed her gold watch– I love the way a watch can instantly make any outfit look more luxurious and expensive. The watch I chose probably costs a lot less then Kourtney’s, but will still give you the same effect. Finally, throw a cute quilted chain-strap bag over your shoulder, add some summery heels and oversize sunglasses, and you’re good to go, doll!

Look 3 – Blake Lively’s Nautical Outfit

Here’s Blake again, rocking another classically cool look while out in Paris, consisting of white skinny jeans, blue Sperry Top-Sider shoes, a cropped striped sweater, and a chain-strap bag.

I chose this look for two reasons: first because I love white bottoms for summer – they’re so fresh and classic! Second, when I spotted Blake’s Top-Siders, I knew I had to share this look with my fellow CF-ers– I’ve never worn them myself, but my college campus is overflowing with guys and girls wearing the ubiquitous boat shoes, and I’m guessing your school probably is, too!

To recreate Blake’s look, I first chose white ankle jeans, which look classic and give the outfit a nautical feel– what could be more perfect for the summer? Blake’s actual shirt was cropped, but I know some of you aren’t big fans of cropped tops, so I gave you two options: a cropped, wide-striped shirt like Blake’s, or a longer boat neck shirt with thinner stripes. Both shirts will give your look the same effect; it’s up to you to choose which you like more!

For accessories, I added some Ray-Ban Wayfarers because I think they would really complement the outfit, but aviators would work well, too. The chain- strap bag is cute and classic for day or night. Finally, I finished the look off with (what else?) a simple pair of navy blue Sperry’s.

What do you think?

Which of these looks was your favorite? Which other celebrity looks would you like to see recreated here? Would you wear these looks? Make sure to leave a comment and let me know. I’m looking forward to hearing from you!

Awesome post! I love Kourtney’s outfit (yummy blazer!) and Blake’s first outfit. Not sure I could pull off such tight jeans in white, but it will look awesome on many confident summer girls, I’m sure! Maybe one day I’ll be brave and try it out…

I really loved that you listened to people’s comments about the cropped shirts and gave two suggestions. I’m really impressed with this post.

I’m definitely a fan of this series- another good post! I think it’s good seeing celebrities wear trends, especially in their everyday life as opposed to model’s because it’s easier to translate for college girls.

The striped arie shirt is actually more expensive than the higher quality Gap shirt that I think it was designed to emulate.
    The Gap option is here:

I love this post. Blake Lively is so amazing and confident and beautiful. And I know another blonde bombshell also working on Gossip Girl in Paris: Clemence Poesy! Do you think CF could maybe do a post on her? She always looks so effortlessly chic, and CF always makes figuring that out so much easier!!
Thanks again for another awesome post!!

I really love the celebrity fashion you chose to interpret. They both look very chic. I would also like to applaud you for how well-written this post is. Its one of the first ones I’ve enjoyed reading and didn’t just skim over for the pictures.

Also, THANK YOU for listening to the readers’ comments. That means a lot to a reader and a commenter. I like to think that my comments actually mean something to somebody. So, thank you for listening to our opinions and providing the two options. While I don’t normally like crop tops at all, I actually like the one you provided.

    Great post!

I went today to look at both the Gap and AE shirt. While the shirts are almost identical-even in the sleve roll- the Gap shirt is a heavier cotton whereas the AE shirt is a looser fitting, lighter cotton. Living in Florida, the AE shirt is the one I went with, even though it had a few extra dollars tacked onto it. Both are beautiful Breton stripe shirts though, and look so classic!

Great job with the posts! You emulated the stypes well!
