Let the Weather Pick Your Outfit

College students who walk to class have to dress for the weather. Here in the Northeast, even a short walk normally includes any number of hills, rainstorms, and patches of freezing terrain. Because of this, we have to dress accordingly – no 4 inch heels, thin jackets or tank tops on days when the weather is bad.

But how do you choose the most weather-appropriate outfit to wear? Personally, I look out the window, check the weather channel and make my best guess, but that doesn’t always work so well. What if there was a better way to make those outfit decisions?

Cumul.us Main PageI just found a new website that basically solves the problem. Cumulus lets you know what the weather will be in your zip code, and best of all – what you should wear! It’s kind of like calling your best friend who has an early class and asking her if it’s really cold outside before you get dressed.

I tested Cumulus out myself and found that it was very accurate – as predicted, most people here are wearing long sleeved tops, jeans and jackets today. Pretty cool!

How accurate is Cumulus for your area? Is it correct or does it suggest wearing a parka in Florida? Check the site out and let me know how it goes in the comments!

Interesting. I’m not sure the weather temperature was correct (I generally find yahoo weather to be accurate), but the clothing forecast was spot on.

That’s a really great site! I’m going to be on everyday for what to wear (hee hee), and, as you mentioned, everything is CORRECT!! Seriously, this site is a better weather predictor than Channel 6. Thanks for posting this!

this website is a pretty good predictor, but i looked today and it was off by a little on the clothing. It recommended a winter coat, but I definitely was wearing my scarf and gloves today too, but it didn’t advise those. I will most likely use it again though, thanks! I also spread the word to students on my campus!

Wow! I just checked the site out (I stumbled across this site a few weeks ago in search of a good winter outfit) and it gave an accurate weather forecst. And the clothes to wear as well! :)

The cool thing is that I don’t even live in the US, but in Spain, so I’m very happy that this site apparently works worldwide, so thank you for posting it! =D

I know that this particular blog is rather old, but I only found CollegeFashion a couple of days ago. I went to the Cumulus website that you mentioned and I have to say, I love it! Come to that, I love this whole blog so far. I am in the process of enrolling in International Academy of Design and Technology and am majoring in Interior Design. Clothes fashion, as much as it interests me, has never been a top priority for me, mainly because I have trouble affording a lot of clothes. However, thanks to you and this blog, it has been able to move up the list quite a bit. Thanks for helping me to find affordable alternatives to the more expensive pieces!
