Hautelinks - your weekly source for the best of the web

It’s that time of year again! Whether you’re currently taking a break from your 6-hour library sesh, dreading the all-nighter you’re going to have to pull tonight, or celebrating the end of your exam week (lucky!), one thing is clear: Midterm season is upon us. And with all that test and paper-related stress comes a serious need to relax (and procrastinate a little)!

That’s where we come in. The following link list is designed to keep you entertained and happily clicking away while forgetting all about your obligations for a solid 15-30 minutes. From all of us here at CF, you’re welcome!

* Need some new boots? Refinery 29 gives us a list of the 27 must-have boots for fall!

* Fans of The Hills, rejoice: Looks like Lauren Conrad is returning to MTV – only this time, it’s strictly business.

* Styleite talks celebrity airport chic – lots of great outfit inspiration for your next vacay!

* Prepare to laugh and cringe at the same time: Shine takes a look at the world’s worst handbags. I have to say, though, I sorta like some of them in an ironic way…. Sorry, it’s true!

* Fashion Week-approved eyelashes? Sign us up!

* Single and looking in NYC? (Or just wish you were?) Check out R29’s list of fashion’s most eligible bachelors. BTW, yes, before you ask, there ARE straight men in fashion.

* Funny & cool: Random Stuff I Don’t Need But Kinda Want. Pretty sure I DO need that shower notepad – that’s where all my best ideas happen!

* NYLON has a look at the Jimmy Choo & Ugg collaboration. Would you wear any of the pieces?

* The NY Times dishes up college advice from those who (supposedly) know best.

* Bypass Facebook Fan Pages is a great idea – you know those pages on Facebook that make you “like” them and grant them access to your info (so they can post on everyone’s newsfeeds!) before showing you “hidden” content? This site makes all that content available, no newsfeed-spamming required!

* Hmm, penny loafers for fall? We’re torn on this trend.

* Cosmo has posted some good stuff recently. See: 10 Hairstyles that Take 10 Minutes (great tips), and The Most Memorable Resume Mistakes (so random!).

* 7 Priceless Works of Art Ruined by Staggering Acts of Idiocy. The art history nerd in me loves this!

* One of our Twitter followers sent me a great article she wrote about internship success, and it’s especially applicable to the media industry. See: My Internship – 5 Lessons I Learned This Summer.

* CF reader Hannah details her experience interning backstage at Boston Fashion Week!

* Okay, this is mostly non-work (or library)-safe and semi-offensive, but it’s worth knowing about for the debate it brings up: college girl’s powerpoint “sex list” goes viral. Basically, a Duke student made a Powerpoint about all the guys she’d hooked up with, complete with Cosmo-style stories and rankings, and it’s gone viral.

* Holier than Now breaks down the camel trend, with great photos & budget-friendly ways to rock this color.

* Have a tiny apartment? Let this amazing studio apartment inspire you to maximize your space! I pretty much saved every photo.

* HotBeautyHealth shows you how to make your eye makeup last all day – without a primer!

* Shrunk your favorite top in the wash? Don’t toss it – make it wearable again with Already Pretty’s tips.

* Haha, I loved Paris Hilton’s guide to generic Halloween costumes. She does have a knack for finding the most cliche (and skin-baring) costume ideas, year after year.

* Crushable dishes out college advice, tackling the age-old dilemma, how to deal with your pestering mom.

* One of our fave bloggers, Erica Domesek, from P.S. I Made This, chatted with gURL.com about following your dreams, crafting a career from your passions, and making the coolest gemstone earrings ever. Totally inspiring!

* CollegeCandy has a great video blog on getting rid of dark circles – great if you’ve pulled a few too many all-nighters!

That’s all we’ve got for this week! Leave a comment below with your thoughts, and best of luck with your exams (or congrats if you made it through!).

Aww the make up without a primer link won’t work :( I keep getting this message (on both IE and Firefox):

You don’t have permission to access /index.php on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Tara – That’s so weird! I double-checked the link and it’s correct. I think the site is having problems. If you type hotbeautyhealth.com into your browser, the post is available on the homepage to read, but the link still won’t work. :(

I’m appalled that you posted the ppt link in this section. In light of what just happened this week at my college, Rutgers University.. in regards to invasion of privacy.. it’s distasteful that you would share something like this here.

CG – Totally understand how the post could be offensive – that’s why I put the disclaimer before it. However, although of course it’s an invasion of privacy, I don’t think it’s quite the same thing as what happened at Rutgers, or that it’s really fair to compare the two. I linked to the powerpoint (with faces blurred out and names removed, btw) because it’s newsworthy and college-related, and somewhat entertaining simply for the girl’s writing. Obviously, we’re not condoning that type of behavior or trying to make light of what happened at Rutgers or say that invasion of privacy is OK. We just linked to a news story because it’s something college women might want to know about.

That Power Point thing is hilarious and guys do that shit all the time. It was funny, frank and well written. I bet a lot of chicks who do the same things as that girl get on their high horse to call her out (it’s what we do best).

Penny Loafers!! I have a wonderful pair that I’m finally breaking in, caramel leather with about a three inch heel. So cute, so versatile, so comfy, so classy. My roomie already wears a cute pair of black suede-and-patent penny flats, too. If you’re on the fence, we both adore our pennies.

LOL. how is that invasion of privacy when she made a ppt about it? I really don’t think she was trying to keep that private…

Fashion’s most eligible bachelors: the hot ones are all GAY! seriously in general it looks like all the decent men out there are either gay or taken!:-(

The PPT: what a thesis ladies! i just can’t stop laughing some friends she has though… there’s actually no violation of privacy since the document has been circulating already and it’s all out in the open.( but 13 guys in a few months?? i’m speechless). the only victims here are the guys if we really want to talk about privacy.

very interesting links! you made my day

Random, but I think this should be featured on the next hautelinks.

Jennifer, you are completely right. I was only arguing about the girl’s privacy. I think it’s really sad for the males involved, that was my entire point. I think the girl is gross and mean. She didn’t do anything to protect her own privacy, and she doesn’t deserve for anyone to stand up for her.
