Great links this week! One note, for readers: the “plain English” explanation of the debt ceiling crisis is a little biased (given that the expert works with FOX news, this is hardly surprising) and its emphasis on the government’s “spending problems” ignores a lot of the political drama that has shaped the real significance of the crisis. Further reading is definitely necessary to fully understand it all!

These have to be some of my favourite posts on the website. About Pottermore, it’s great that after seven years, I finally got my Hogwarts letter. Oh, by the way, thanks for tweeting that you got onto it. If it wasn’t for your tweet, I would have missed it.

Almost cried when I heard the Zara news. Such cute stuff! But I’ve only been in one, which was in Paris.

And also stoked that I could get a Pottermore account the day I figured out what it was.

I just gained access to Pottermore yesterday: I was waiting by my computer for three hours straight and nothing came up, I went to the bathroom, came back, and it told me to come back later :( I eventually solved the question and found the Magical Quill :) So excited!!

Yeah, I agree with Brigid. Careful with the “plain English” explanation, it’s pretty biased.

Oh 90s Fashion. . . although there was a ‘grunge revival’ a while back, I feel like it didn’t permeate as well as it could.

Brigid & Rach – Thanks for pointing that out! I honestly didn’t notice that the article was a little biased on first read-through: it seemed like the article was arguing for going along with Obama on raising the debt ceiling, which is not something most Fox News pundits were in favor of. But after reading it again, I do see where you’re coming from – there are a few blurbs that don’t seem totally unbiased. My apologies for not reading it more carefully before posting!

Mina – You’re welcome! I’m glad you got to register – I spent way too much time yesterday obsessively checking the site for the new clue! Now if only the site would actually launch…

Really enjoyed the link about being too tall – i’m 5’8″ and i completely understand everything she was talking about! when it comes to fashion, i absolutely adore being tall. when it comes to guys, though i hate it, even though i’ve been with my bf for over three years (he’s about 5’6″). I’m used to being taller than a lot of guys, but it’s something I’ll always be insecure about.
