* Hate shopping online because you can never tell if the clothes will fit? This new service may be the answer to your problems – you just input your measurements and try things on virtually! So cool.

* Shine gives us 8 tips on how to layer clothing & NOT look like a shapeless slob. Gotta love a title like that. Although it’s supposedly for “curvy women,” the tips work for everyone.

* Do you exaggerate on Facebook? This NYTimes article compares FB to theatre – are we all merely actors?

* NY Fashion Week is less than a month away, but these feline “fashionistas” got in on the action early. The pictures are funny but a little sad – hard not to feel bad for the cats!

* Wanna work in fashion? Fashionista will help you determine which fashion career is right for you.

* If you haven’t determined your Fashion’s Night Out itinerary yet, see their website and get on it! There are tons of events happening across the country, so find out what’s going on in your area on Sept. 10th!

* Daily Candy lists 18 of the best mascaras… ever.

* Haha, The Frisky’s list of “I Can’t Be With Someone Who…” responses is funny, with a few nuggets of actual truth mixed in.

* Is there anyone cooler than Betsey Johnson? Signs point to no.

* Also from our friends at Refinery 29 (can you tell we <3 them?), Fall’s 5 Most Wanted Designer Collaborations.

* Okay, I’ll say in advance, this is not meant to offend you if you attend one of the schools listed (I know people get crazy about their college sports teams!): Zimbio’s list of the 10 worst college mascots is all in fun, and will make you laugh (hopefully).

* So interesting: ABC News discusses the class of 2014, and what the world looks like to them in comparison to upperclassmen. (Thanks, Jenny, for sending this in!!) A few facts about the class of 2014 that I found fascinating (and that, okay, made me feel OLD):

1. Few in the class know how to write in cursive.

19. They never twisted the coiled handset wire aimlessly around their wrists while chatting on the phone.

27. Computers have never lacked a CD-ROM disk drive.

32. Czechoslovakia has never existed.

62. Having hundreds of cable channels but nothing to watch has always been routine.

* Somewhat related to that last piece, Who’d be an 18-year old today? is a look at the fallacies our generation has grown up believing, and the effects they may have on our culture in the future.

* Anddd, in an attempt to refute the claims made by the last two articles, CollegeCandy retorts: Our Generation is Going to be OK, OK?

* Also from CollegeCandy, Make the Most of BFF Time Before School Starts. Aww!

* Okay, just one more article about our generation… (you know you find them interesting, too!) What Is It About 20-Somethings?, from the NY Times, is super long but worth reading, printing, emailing, discussing, etc.

* I loved Glamour’s interview with Manolo Blahnik. Such a fashion legend.

* Another great piece from Glamour (UK), perfect if you’re ready for a lazy day of vegging out before school starts.. a list of The Most Fashionable Films Ever.

* Funny/random/somewhat-fashion-related (?) – 16 Incredibly Impractical Superhero Costumes.

* DailyOM’s Empowering Feminine Energy is beautifully written & inspiring.

* What was Lady Gaga like as a college student? Overall, way more normal than you’d expect.

* The Gloss did an interesting piece on personal shoppers. Definitely doesn’t sound like the world’s worst career!

* Top 6 Fall 2010 Makeup Trends, from Hot Beauty Health, might inspire you to switch up your beauty routine.

* Oh my god, The Frisky’s roundup of bad adolescent poetry is hilarious, and makes me glad I never attempted to write any back then. Did you guys write embarassingly angsty poetry in HS?

* If you’re looking to decorate your dorm room, this lamp from Target is cute AND affordable.

* Already Pretty has helpful tips on wardrobe cycling. I’d love to get better at this!

* Finally, if you haven’t entered yet, you NEED to enter our Linea Pelle handbag giveaway ASAP! I’ve extended the giveaway until Tuesday, 8/24, so you’ve got time! Entering is easy and the prize is amazing – what are you waiting for?

    YES! We’ll be fine! xD

The cats were so… Uggghhh! poor little things! Why people do that to animals?

Ella – Totally agree about the cats! They do NOT look pleased to be dressed up. My cat would probably attempt kill me if I ever tried something like that. Animals + clothes is never good.

I love my cats just the way they are… they beautiful and their model-like walk is something I brag about, plus! Their fur is pretty enough to show around! I have a panda-cat, tiger-cat and leopard-cat! And of course, the always classy all-black one xD God… I just sounded like the crazy lady with the million cats… Still, not crazy enough to dress them!

God bless those people… and forgive them for THAT sin!

Zephyr, I love when you do these posts but I have to say I’m a bit shocked you actually make contact with College Candy. I discovered them through one of your links and thought they were really cool and down to earth – then I dug a little deeper into their writer’s posts and was horrified.

    A. They have some bad fashion sense (they obviously arent reading CF’s posts)
    B. They are rude, egotistical and stereotypical (did you read their latest Gay post?)
    C. They have messed up ideas on how to judge people: like that you arent a woman if you don’t wear dresses, heels and makeup every day.

In the future I hope you find much more nicer and professional college blogs to link to and work with than the people at College Candy.

I like to say I’ve lived at Hogwarts, I did a study abroad trip to England through my university and Alnwick Castle (used as Hogwarts for the movies) was where I stayed for three months!

I love the lamp from Target, now if I only really needed another lamp….

I come from the Czech Republic and it’s been always sad when I heard people not knowing that we are no longer Czechoslovakia but we separated into 2 independent states- Czech Republic and Slovak Republic (Slovakia). But what it’s even sadder is the fact that some people don’t know some Czechoslovakia existed years ago, so they have no idea there’s a new country now for about 17 years.

Haha I KNEW my college (UC Santa Cruz) would make the list of worst mascots with our banana slugs! I’ve definitely seen us high up on a list of “top college mascots” so I’m not offended. Some of those other mascots aren’t that bad either. They are definitely some weirder ones they forgot.

Oh, and I’m taking that summer bucket list and changing some things to fit my area. :-) I’ve already done some of them (since June).

Dont know if you girls have posted this link before but it’s worth sharing again anyways! :)

@neriss Yeah, I’m from Czech republic too and I’ve always met American people who knew there’s no more Czechoslovakia… but that was probably only because they currently were in Czech rep :/
