Fashion industry internships: exploitation or experience? is an interesting piece from the Guardian detailing what we all already know: working in fashion is not as glamorous as it seems.
“The designer was constantly shouting at students as young as 19, saying, ‘You’re f*****g useless, you don’t know what you’re doing,’ whenever they didn’t do something properly,” says a former manager at a small but well-known fashion house which relies heavily on interns. “These girls would be working from 8am to 1am in the run-up to fashion week and some would start crying and getting hysterical because they were being expected to do a job perfectly which they’d never done before.”
But if you’re still determined to work in fashion, at least dress the part.

The link featuring 9 Traits of Irresistible Women is a bit silly. Basically it’s saying, be interesting, but not too crazy? Not only is that a little bit obvious, it’s kind of insulting to those with our own personalities. I’ve met girls that fit every category on that list, and they drive me nuts, because I know that they tailor themselves to be attractive to men. What ever happened to just be yourself?

I agree with SN about the 9 Traits article. Kinda reminds me of that one One Tree Hill quote… it was all about don’t be too this, but don’t be too that either, be yourself but also fit in. Everything the guy said was basically just about how his girl can benefit HIM, like be attractive for ME, laugh at MY jokes, call ME, have your own friends (but only so I can have guy time, otherwise they shouldn’t exist).
anyways, I really enjoyed all the other links, especially the money saving ones:)

SN and Kelly – I totally see what you guys mean about the article, and I am with you – I am 110% against the idea of changing yourself to please a guy! I didn’t get that message from the article, though and that’s why I posted it – I liked it because it seemed different from those other “what guys like” articles in that it basically said guys are attracted to normal, healthy, stable girls. In most of those types of articles you see guys saying ridiculous crap like “I only like girls who cater to me 24/7″, and this article talked about how having your own life and doing your own thing is more attractive to guys, which is a positive message IMO. But I can see how you could get a different message from it than I did. Sorry if it offended you!

I agree with zephyr there! it’s nice to be independent! ana kelly a correction he didn’t say she must laugh at my jokes… he said she must be fun and know how to give a quick response. and having friends helps especially if you are dating someone popular… i wouldn’t want to be left alone at home obsessing when he goes out with his friends. besides i would still want to hang out with other people other than him and his friends (i’d get tired of him)
the list of books…. i’ve read from that list a few. some i wil never read. she left one book,a classic: PSYCHO-CYBERNETICS it is a very interesting book.
