That cracked article is utterly depressing, really.

The article on why modern men hate women has a bit of a discriminatory tone towards Muslims at the end. It kind of hints that all women who wear burqas are forced to do so, which is incorrect. I think you should be a bit more sensitive as to the articles you are endorsing on this site.

I find it rude that the writers on here always assume that the readers are not thinking / planning on getting married (or having kids) “anytime soon.”

I’ve been a regular reader for a few years now (and I’m only 24!) and I was married last summer and have a daughter! I admit that I’m probably not the “normal” college girl but I finished my undergrad last year and I’m about to start my third semester of my MA.

I don’t want to cause a fuss – I just think that it’s pretty closed minded to place college girls into particular life categories.

Phidias – Totally get how you could see it that way, however the article did specifically say that only “some muslims,” not all, or even many, did this – to me, that was pretty clear. But I’m glad you reiterated that many women choose to wear burqas rather than being forced. I think that fact is ignored far too often.

Joelle – Sorry if that sentence was unclear – when I said “us,” I was referring to myself and the team here at CF, not readers. I know that college students have a wide variety of lifestyles and never meant to insinuate otherwise. I’ll change the wording.

Please don’t fall for the logic in that CRACKED article. It was written by a very dark person with a lot of anger issues. (David Wong’s book, “John Dies at the End” has a lot of similar themes. It’s a good read, and Wong is a good writer, but he doesn’t speak for all men).

I recommend familiarizing yourself with Amanda Marcotte’s analysis of Wong’s piece. It’s far more insightful:

Sure! Reading this as a 22 year old female along with being a first year 8th grade math teacher, I found it a bit ridiculous especially number 5 and 4. Just felt as if (5 and 4) that the editor was trying to communicate that “modern men” view women as objects and not as human beings and to me that is ridiculous and sad. It was very eye opening to say the least! But I also read/viewed it as a teacher and just thought to myself, I wonder how my 8th grade male students view their female classmates.

The “Lion King-ing” video was hilarious! I laughed way too hard!!

Also, I loved the wedding foods article. My family is Norwegian, and my mom said she’d make a kransekake (page 4) some day if/when I get married. Mmmmm! :-)
