I completely agree with your comment about the 50 most timeless bags. I wish I had the cash and the closet space to own every single one. (possibly not the Gaultier Glove bag….)

In reference to the Turkish Vogue link:
Your first thought upon looking at the cover was how refreshing it was to have a model instead of an actress?
What about the fact that it was Jessica Stam and not a Turkish model?
Vogue India, a few years ago, was introduced with Gemma Ward on the cover, flanked by two blue-eyed Indian models (sidekick syndrome). Vogue China did the same thing with its debut.
It is a sad sight to see this publication, in an effort to reach a broader international market, slap its readers in the face by essentially placing a white model front and center, while placing her “ethnic” counterparts as accent pieces.

The Alice in Wonderland link is even older; it’s from 1903! It’s MUCH different than the 1930s.

I agree with Shmee about the Turkish cover. I was really impressed with the cover at first because I thought “Finally. A model; not some actress/celebrity. And Wow! It’s so simple. Just the title, the country, and the model.” Then realized the country was Turkey and then looked again at the model. I mean couldn’t they have even TRIED to find someone Turkish? It made me sad. I guess they have their reasons to put Jessica Stam on there (it is a Western publication). She’s a great model and really pretty but it was still really disappointing to see.

…and OMG yes Nicole Richie = super precious. Lol to Ellen “Because when you’re eight, you’re dangerous.” :)

If you don’t believe sororities and body image are connected, you obviously didn’t go to a school in the south!
