Hautelinks - your weekly source for the best of the web

What does Anna Wintour think about outfit repeating? What are the best beauty and hair products to buy at the drugstore? What really goes on behind the scenes at CF? Find the answers to these questions and more in this week’s Hautelinks list!

* Teen Vogue did a feature on the Top 10 Drugstore Beauty Picks from celebrity makeup artist Brett Freedman (who does Vanessa Hudgens and Leighton Meester’s makeup). If you’re on a budget, it’s a must-read.

* Memorize these names if you want to work in fashion: a list of Today’s Hot Fashion Photographers from the LA Times.

* Etsy is a great place to find unique clothes, jewelry, and accessories. It’s also, as Regretsy will show you, a great place to find some, well, more interesting stuff… This made me LOL, no lie.

* 20×200 is a great place to get inexpensive (and fabulous) art for your apartment!

* Want to instantly feel better about yourself? A new study says that just a little exercise can boost body image.

Heather Hausenblas of the University of Florida reviewed 57 intervention studies on the topic of exercise and how it makes people feel, and she concludes that “the simple act of exercise and not fitness itself can convince you that you look better,” according to a statement released today by the university.

* Along those same lines, The Manfattan Project is a rad new real-girl style blog with a unique spin – “real fashion. large bodies.” What a great idea!

* Could it be? Halloween Beauty Products You’ll Actually Use Again!!

* Models Inc. is a new comic miniseries starring Tim Gunn! His likeness is a superhero “forced to don an Iron Man suit to defend a fashion exhibit from villains.” Um, sounds awesome. Wonder if Ferocia Coutoura will make an appearance?

* If Anna Wintour says it’s okay…

* Buyer beware! The 10 Worst Drugstore Shampoos should probably be avoided at all costs!

* What to Wear on an Internship: Shopping Spree is a useful article from Teen Vogue.

* On that same note, Teen Vogue’s Beauty Director Eva Chen talks beauty with I Heart Daily and shares some of her favorite beauty tips. A few noteworthy ones:

1. Spend money to see a dermatologist. Tell them that you only have money in your budget for 1-2-or 3 appointments, and ask them for straight-forward advice (without using lasers, fillers or pricey prescriptions) on how to get perfect skin.
2. Don’t touch your face more than you have to. You’re more likely to break out and… germs — enough said.
3. Sleep. A LOT.
4. You are what you eat. I know, it’s been said before — but it’s true! Eating a diet packed with fresh fruits and veggies and low on refined sugar will make a huge difference in your complexion!

* If you’re as obsessed with cuteness as we are, Zooborns, a blog documenting baby animals born in zoos across the world, will have you distracted for days.

* Wanna add some edge to your wardrobe? Haute Macabre has some great pieces for less than $75!

* 50 Things Every British Girl Should Have is an interesting and unique response to Nina Garcia’s One Hundred list of wardrobe essentials:

An American editor has come up with a definitive list of style essentials — but it didn’t look quirky enough for us. Here’s how to do it, British style.

* If you’re 21 and going to school in NYC, please see NYC’s Cheapest Places to Drink. You’re welcome.

* Still searching for a Halloween costume idea? Dress up as Baby from Dirty Dancing.

* Last week’s snowy/rainy weather across the country makes this post about cute rain boots a must-read.

* File this under “why didn’t I think of that?”: a chic alternative to the over-the-knee look, pioneered by the London girls.

* Sacred College Knowledge Passed On. While I don’t agree with “nothing in the cafeteria is healthy” (there are smart choices everywhere, and it’s all about moderation), or “beware of alcohol mixing” (totally a myth), tips like “when a boy wants to study, he does not want to study” are right on-target.

* She’s a Betty’s Etsy Indie Designer Directory is super cute and useful!

* Trying to live an eco-friendly life but don’t want to sacrifice your sense of style? White Apricot is a great resource to help you get the best of both worlds.

* Everyone’s favorite non-Miley Disney queen Selena Gomez is launching her own eco-friendly fashion line. Not sure what to expect from this one, style-wise, but you have to hand it to her for being environmentally conscious!

* Finally, if you’ve ever wanted to know more about what goes on behind the scenes at CF, I did an interview recently about fashion blogging, inspiration, and personal style.

That’s all for today! Happy procrastination and we’ll see you all tomorrow!

I’m British and I only own one thing on the ’50 things every British girl should have’ list (a grey hoodie) and I only desire to own two others (a pearl necklace and leather driving gloves). I was obviously born in the wrong country :)
