College Fashion Weekly Links – 3/28/2008

Wow, I’ve had a really crazy week! Midterms, papers, projects, etc. I’m sure most of you can relate – sometimes it’s really hard to keep up with everything in college, on top of writing for this site.
Anyway, that’s my excuse for lack of blog posts over the past week! I’ll be posting over the weekend though to make up for it!
Here is my top list of weekly hot links: check these sites out because they rock!
- Total gorgeous-ness. Butterfly inspired fashion photos via New York Magazine!
- Ah, another celebrity clothing line: Ashlee Simpson to release a line for Wet Seal.
- Breaking News: Mary-Kate Olsen Wears Something Normal
- I’m loving the Counterfeit Crochet Handbag Project! Super-cute take on designer knockoffs. Of course I don’t know if I’d actually buy one in place of the real thing…
- I’m obsessed with this abaete dress. Obsessed, I tell you! It’s going on my wishlist of hot clothes to buy when I’m rich someday!
- Kate Moss is just too fabulous and inspiring for words. Check out the great pictures courtesy of Fashion Toast!
- According a UK poll, push-up bras are the greatest fashion inventions ever. Not sure if I agree. I happen to like jeans and dresses better…
- If you’ve ever wondered what’s really in your favorite beauty products, check out this article from the New York Times. *Warning: if you’re easily grossed out, you might want to skip it!*
- This is really useful: Use The Internet To Save On Eating Out
- This whole collection is going on my need-to-have list: Heatherette for MAC! What could be more fabulous than a shiny, pink, glittery, makeup collection? Love it.
Have any hot links to share of your own? Let me know in the comments!
Also, check back this weekend for some more CF updates. I have some great sales and coupons to tell you about, plus all the info another one of the latest spring fashion trends. Don’t miss it!

I love the Kate Moss pics but all I can think about is how Miss J, Jay Alexander and Tyra would tell her not to hang her mouth open in every frame. But then again, maybe I’m just watching way to many ANTM reruns on VH1….

first of all thanks for featuring my blog!:) i thought it was a pretty cool project as well!
second of all, i totally understand how burned out you’re feeling right now. I’ve had a rough last couple weeks of exams/papers/projects. those teachers just love cramming everything into the last month of school! good luck :)

Hey! I just recently found your blog and totally love it! I was wondering if you had a suggestion/advice for me. I’ve recently really gotten into wearing sweater vests with jeans. Love ‘em! But I’m wondering what I could wear underneath the vests. I’m a little stuck, beyond one white t-shirt I have and some white blouses. Any suggestions on how to have fun with them while keeping it casual?
Thanks!
Cadi
Hey Emma! I’m totally not the blog author, but polos and turtlenecks work too! I’m an argyle whore so I’m totally with you on the vest deal :3
And I am a Biology major/Chem minor, so that makeup chemistry article was AWESOME. Wish they’d had that when I was in middle school. All we got to do was baking soda volcanoes.

Marleah – Hahaha I’m ANTM addicted myself! Miss J and Tyra would SO get on Kate about that, it’s true!
Lauren – Absolutely, I heart your blog! And I know, work just keeps piling up right now, it’s insane! I have tests next week, plus the boyfriend is visiting, plus working on projects.. blogging is of course what I want to do most, but I can’t fail all my classes to do it! So annoying.
Emma – Ooh, sweater vests are super-cute! I like the white blouses idea. Maybe if you could find some similar blouses in different colors that coordinated with the vest, they would look good too! I like the idea of a button-down collared top that is longer than the sweater vest so you can see the bottom of the shirt under the vest. Pair with a mini and it’s so Cher in Clueless! Hope that helped!
Cadi – Those are good ideas for a sweater vest. And I’m glad you appreciated that makeup article, I thought it was so gross what actually goes in to some of the stuff we put on our faces! I guess it’s grosser to imagine going totally without makeup though.. ;)

So I just happened to stumble upon this link as I was doing my weekend web browsing, and I must say, a sweet find it was. Blogging definitely isn’t on my ‘favorite past-times’ list and not something I usually engage in. But hey, my first attempt at a blog entry might just change my mind :-)
I absolutely loved the wide array of fashion links and news updates. Each and every one of them was an interesting read, but a few really grabbed my attention. The butterfly inspired gowns were oozing sensuality and I adored the ethereal-like quality they all radiated! The light, flowing layered look seems like a hot trend for the spring season and something I’d love to invest in. Hopefully, the lower-end retailers would have produced their version of the trend soon enough for me to get my hands on it!
The celebrity endorsement trend seems to be increasing in popularity over the years and several retailers have resorted to celeb clothing lines. It would be interesting to see how Ashlee Simpson’s line for Wet Seal fares for the company especially since last I heard, Wet Seal’s sales had been plummeting and the company was closing down several stores. Hopefully, Ashlee Simpson mixes her designs with some sophistication and style instead on focusing on punk-inspired tees which have been soo overdone!
