Zodiac Style Earth Signs

For the last month or so, we have been trying to discover if there truly is a link between astrology and personal style. While the results have varied from girl to girl, I think we can all agree that it has been a fun and interesting way to approach fashion.

In case you haven’t seen the other three parts of this series, check out Zodiac Style: Air Signs – Aquarius, Gemini & LibraZodiac Style: Fire Signs – Aries, Leo & Sagittarius, and Zodiac Style: Water Signs – Pisces, Cancer & Scorpio.

For the final installment, we will be looking at the Earth Signs (Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn) and learning about their personal style. Earth signs are known for being practical and detail-oriented, which often translates into their fashion choices. However, these are also girls that love to surround themselves with high-quality clothing, shoes and jewelry. Of course, these signs each have their own unique style, which you can learn more about below:

Taurus (April 20- May 20)

Taurus Symbol

Symbol: The Bull

Traits: Hard-working, Resourceful, Reliable

Colors: Pink, Pastel Blue, Light Green

Fashionable Taurus: Jessica Alba, Christina Hendricks, Dianna Agron

  • Taurus girls love to wear classic, well-made clothing with unique detailing.
  • Tauruses love high-quality and expensive clothes, but are are willing to wait until a great bargain comes around before they buy anything.
  • The Bull rules over the throat and neck, so girls under this sign love highlighting this area with scarves and necklaces.

Taurus Outfits

Outfit #1: Top, Jeans, Scarf, Bag, Boots Outfit #2: Blouse, Skirt, Earrings, Clutch, Sandals

For the first outfit, I opted for a classic look that’s punched up with accessories that are sure to appeal to a Taurus girl. At the center of the outfit are some basic jeans and a comfortable white henley. A soft scarf in a pretty mint green color draws eyes towards the neck area. Bulls are usually big fans of leather (real or faux depending on your preference), so add some boots and a matching bag with some chain detailing, which are both sure to please any headstrong Taurus.

The next look is all about creating a high-quality ensemble without sky-high prices. The ruffled blouse looks great with a simple skirt for balance. Add an elegant clutch, simple stud earrings and some structured sandals for a pretty look for any formal occasion.

Virgo (August 23- September 22)

Virgo Symbol

Symbol: The Virgin

Traits: Organized, Thoughtful, Observant

Colors: Dark Brown, Navy Blue, Cream

Fashionable Virgos: Rachel Bilson, Blake Lively, Nicole Richie

  • Virgos pay a lot of attention to detail and always try to look neat and polished, even with the most casual outfits.
  • Girls under this sign love simple clothing and would never wear anything too flashy, too tight or too revealing.
  • Virgo girls are willing to try new trends, but usually opt to pair them with classic and timeless pieces.

Virgo Outfits

Outfit #1: Top, Jeans, Sunglasses, Watch, Bag, Flats Outfit #2: Dress, Ring, Necklace, Belt, Flats

Virgos like to look polished no matter where they go, and this casual outfit exemplifies that. Slouchy boyfriend jeans can easily look sloppy, but not when paired with a fitted and classic striped shirt. Basic black flats streamline the look and a sturdy messenger bag is roomy enough for all your belongings. Wayfarers continue the classic look, while the bold red watch is perfect for the ever-punctual Virgo.

This navy blue dress should appeal to most Virgos due to its simple structure, which makes it easy to dress up with accessories. A double-wrap belt defines the waist and matching woven flats are a comfortable choice for day or night. Finally, accessorize with a long necklace and fun ring.

Capricorn (December 22- January 19)

Capricorn Symbol

Symbol: The Goat

Traits: Mature, Practical, Ambitious

Colors: Black, Dark Gray, Brown

Fashionable Capricorns: Zooey Deschanel, Sienna Miller, Kate Bosworth

  • Capricorns tend to stick with a neutral color palette and like vintage-inspired pieces.
  • This sign likes a no-frills wardrobe and is all about pieces that are both comfortable and functional.
  • Capricorn girls like simple silhouettes and a look that exudes understated elegance.

Capricorn Outfits

Outfit #1: Tank, Shorts, Blazer, Bag, Oxfords Outfit #2: Dress, Ring, Clutch, Earrings, Heels

The first look is all about sticking with an entirely neutral color palette while still looking practical and fashion-forward. The gray shorts are both casual and elegant and I paired them with a subtly striped shirt to continue this theme. There’s no need for a necklace with this outfit because of the soft bow detail on the tank top. In general, Capricorns are drawn to pieces that could also be worn in an office setting, so I added this ruched blazer and structured bag. Finish the outfit with gray oxfords for a vintage-inspired touch.

Capricorn girls want to covey a look that screams understated elegance, which is easy to do in this pretty yet comfortable dress. Some Mary Jane pumps add a formal touch, as does the functional and sleek clutch. Accessorize with some vintage-inspired jewelry that adds a small pop of color.

Great post! I’m a Capricorn and everything was right on the money except for the neutrals thing. Though I do have a lot of black, I never wear an outfit with at least a pop of colour! I love bright colours, especially pink. Seriously, does anyone dress in all neutrals, all the time? I sincerly hope not! lol But, besides that, good work!

Interesting! I was looking forward to this post. I’m a Taurus, but I don’t believe in astrology. A few things were right on – I love pink, I sometimes go for classic styles, I like high-end clothing, and I’m always wearing necklaces. On the other hand, I rarely wear blues or greens, and I don’t like scarves. Astrology can be fun, but I don’t necessarily think it can accurately predict your personality, fate, or style!

I have to admit – I think astrology’s a lot of hokum, but the Virgo choices were spot on. I wear mostly simple and classic pieces and then pair them with a trend here and there, and I liked the outfits you put together. This was a fun series. Nice work!

Thank you for this post! Like Kaleigh I’m a Capricorn as well and it’s dead on! I wear TONS of black because that is what I’m comfortable wearing. Every now and then I will put a colored tank top under a black tank, or a statement necklace, but for the most part I tend to gravitate to neutrals. And I hate frilly outfits! They are just not flattering to my figure. I’m a jeans and tank top girl all the way!

I actually laughed out loud. It’s like you tailored the Capricorn style just for me! I love all of my vintage clothes and scour antique stores for truly unique jewelry. And yes, my favorite dress is my navy blue shift dress from the early 60s. Like Kaleigh, I do wear color, but in moderation. I could never wear a bright neon shirt, but pinks and purples always seem to show up in my necklaces and purses.

Good job on these (and every!) article.

I wholeheartedly believe that astrology is a science and yesss, it does reflect in your style. Of course, there are other planets and their positions to take into consideration when looking at one’s natal chart…
I am a Capricorn, and we’re status-oriented… lots of classic, designer (on sale) pieces.
All the same, I have a lot of fire in the rest of chart, in particular Leo and Sag, so I have a tendency towards ostentatious accessories. Lots of leopard print, weird heavy necklaces, I wear lots of earrings, etc. I tend to be flighty.

But I did love this post. Quite on the money.

Okay, I’m a Virgo and I’ve been waiting for this final post to see what my outfits would be. You seriously have me down pat and I adore both of the outfits, although I would wear both of Capricorn’s outfits as well. I love the accessories you included in the Virgo’s outfits–I’m a sucker for great and unique jewelry!

I’m an Aries but all of these descriptions and outfits fit me perfectly, especially the Taurus. I must have been born in the wrong month!

I’m a capricorn and I have to say this post is spot on I have been waiting ever since the series started to see what you would come up with. I wear neutrals a lot with a pop of color and yes I love high quality pieces, I don’t mind spending a lot of money on clothing or accessories because I’ll wear them all the time. Good job on the arricle!

This is great! I’m a Taurus, and my mom always tells me that no matter how much I try to like trendy things, my real style is very classic.
Not sure about the scarves, but maybe I’ll have to try it out :)

I’m a capricorn. I like the outfits and definitely am the type to look for ‘fun’ pieces that are office appropriate, but I’d be more likely to grab that dress in a deep plum or grab red shoes for the first outfit. I’ve finally made peace with color.

    July 25th, 2010 at 4:21 pm

I’m a Capricorn and I related to at least some of the pieces in every outfit! Some outfits I might not have paired up as you did, but I like that I can get a new perspective here :)

The boots in the Taurus look are so adorable- Def will be purchasing those!

I’m a Virgo and I’ve been waiting since the first post for my sign. The description is spot on! I don’t believe in astrology, but I would definitely wear the two Virgo outfits.

I’m a Tuarus, and while I lean more towards bohomien, i really like the two oufits you did here.

Funny, I was just skimming this article and looked at the last outfit and thought, “I love that.” Then I scrolled back up and realized it was for Capricorn – my sign. So…spot on! :)

I’m Capricorn and similarly to the comments above me, I agree that what you wrote for Capricorn was SPOT ON. It’s kind of scary how accurate it is because I never really believed in horoscopes and how they affect a person’s personality, choice of style etc. but I’m a little bit convinced now. I really love the two outfits you put together and I would definitely wear them or incorporate certain pieces into my wardrobe. Although I do wear a lot of dark and neutral colours most of the time, similar to what Kaleigh said, I do enjoy pops of colour, although not a full multi-coloured outfit.

I’m a Taurus and you got my style spot on, especially with the first outfit. I am seriously considering ordering that scarf.. I love it!

  22. 22
    July 25th, 2010 at 6:58 pm

Though I will never believe silly horoscopes, the style choices for my sign (Capricorn) was right to a tee. I love the blazer!

i’m a capricorn and i do love menswear inspired clothing =]

    July 25th, 2010 at 7:21 pm

I’m a Capricorn and I have to say I do not like the outfits what so ever for the sign. Completely off for my tastes. I definately do not wear a lot of black at all. Do not care for it. Gray, sometimes, but I prefer browns, greens, and blues. I like the second Virgo outfit the best out of all the outfits but mostly for the accesories. so for me this was a miss.

Great job! The Virgo looks are spot on. I think I have similar pieces in my closet now! I do think it’s really important to incorporate classic pieces in any outfit. I LOVE it.

    July 26th, 2010 at 12:18 pm

This was a great series! Mine sign was done last time (Aries) and it was spot on! I’m also pulling inspiration from the other looks. What a great idea! I agree that astrology is largely hokum to me, but I like the clothing and these posts regardless!

  31. 31
    July 26th, 2010 at 7:45 pm

I’ve really loved this series– very creative, and the variety of outfits is perfect.(although the Virgo outfits couldn’t be farther far from my own style, and that’s my sign… good thing I don’t take astrology too seriously.)

  32. 32
    July 26th, 2010 at 8:31 pm

I love all the blue Virgo stuff & grey/black Capricorn stuff. Blue, black & grey are probably my fave colors to wear. I’m a Scorpio, though, but I think earth & water signs have much more in common than a water sign would have with say, a fire sign.

Anyone who says astrology is BS certainly hasn’t ever looked at it in terms of style!

  33. 33
    July 27th, 2010 at 10:30 pm

I’ve been waiting for Taurus for such a long time!! The general description is absolutely spot on: simple but detailed is my thing. Interesting color choices too, and I love the sample outfits.

Very informative! Virgos all day!!! This post explains exactly what type of taste i have in clothing. Although the other sets for Taurus and Capricorn would be in my closet!!! : )

I’m a virgo and the outfit with the stripped top and jeans is exactly what I have in my closet. So weird! Everyone always makes fun of my big bags too, but I always say that a girl has to be prepared! Great series!

As a taurus I have to admit that I was a little unconvinced when the article mentioned that pinks are in my wardrobe, especially since i’m not really a fan of light pinks, but the styles put together were spot on something I would wear.

Ya’ll rock! I am a cappie and obsess over sophisticated and classy looks ala Audrey Hepurn, Sienna Miller, Kate Moss and Mary Tyler Moore ! It really is scary how the zodiac is science fact.
