I don’t know about all of you, but I’m a huge fan of The Oscars! I mark the day on my calendar way in advance, and when the big Sunday gets closer, I clear my schedule so I can spend the whole afternoon and evening parked on my couch. Beautiful gowns, glamorous movie stars, amazing films – what’s not to love?

If you’re also an Academy devotee, you probably have something planned for Oscar Sunday, whether it’s a glitzy party or a low-key evening with friends. (Or maybe you’ll be following our live Oscar red carpet tweets¬†on Sunday?) Whatever it is, here are three outfit ideas to help you dress perfectly for the big night:

Classic Hollywood Glam

If your Oscar plans include a glamorous party, here’s the look for you. Channel the classic elegance of Old Hollywood (think Audrey Hepburn) with a gorgeous flared blue dress and black pointed-toe heels. Add some sparkle with a bold statement necklace and a few gold rings. For your beauty look, try bold lashes and soft waves. Lastly, grab a metallic clutch to hold your essentials for the night.

(Almost) Dressed Up

If you’re partying with friends but still want to be comfortable, try this second ensemble. Pair dark wash bootcut jeans with a glitzy sequin tank and a black tuxedo blazer. Forgo the heels for a pair of leopard print flats, but glam things up with sparkly drop earrings and a cocktail ring. A bold red lipstick is the perfect finishing touch.

Cozy Night In

No big party plans? Create your own! Instead of going out for the night, host a luxe pajama party with friends. Pull out your nicest pair of pjs and some cute and comfy slippers, then accessorize with a colorful headband and a pair of star earrings (a cute nod to this star-studded night). Complete your viewing party with some popcorn and nail painting (how can you NOT feel glamorous with glittery gold nails?).

Callan: I stumbled on your blog this morning while searching Oscar party ideas…heading to an annual event a friends’ in Magnolia this afternoon.
Just want to say, nice job on your down-to-earth approach to fashion, it’s perfect for the college group and even for moms such as myself. I was pleasantly surprised to see that you’re at Whitman, I was offered a scholarship back in the day but declined, and have occasionally thought my decision was a mistake.
My daughter is a junior at Washington State studying PR and English, I am going to suggest she follow your posts.
Best to you in your future endeavors!
    Maria
