The best time to buy cheap costumes and accessories is right after halloween. Everything is on sale so you can go crazy! Also go through your dress-up box from when you were little and see if anything will still fit (think tutus, tiaras, lace tights you can cut into gothic gloves... almost anything can be reused).

Also some great party themes are IPod Shuffle (everyone comes dressed as their favorite song), Rubik's Cube (Wear a hat, shirt, and shorts in any combination of red, yellow, and blue. The goal is to be wearing all one color by the end of the night!), and Arctic Summer (think bikinis with leg warmers and a winter hat)

I felt like this article was kinda lacking. I feel like the info you gave is basic knowledge. You don't provide places to shop or photo examples. Im not sure if this is a new CF thing, but I have noticed more articles that are short like this and without physical examples of the ideas they are talking about. I realize not every article can be super long. I just feel these shorter ones need to include one or two outfits, or in this case accessory product examples/ show stores to find them at.

I love theme parties! Oh man, why did I graduate from college?

Btw, if you ever want to make a toga, just google it. You can buy a pretty piece of fabric (i.e. not a bed sheet) and make one pretty easily.

Don't underestimate how far you can get with 'normal' pieces of clothing- you just need to combine them in way you normally wouldn't.

A pirate costume, for example, is really easily made with a gilet, a white off-shoulder draped blouse, shorts or those thin knee-length summer sweatpants and boots. Tie a scarf around your head, add a locket and hoop earrings- there's your Jack Sparrow look without having to buy anything!

So the first thing to do is think what the look you're going for is actually made up of :)

I LOVE to dress up and love that vintage pin up and feathered accessories are back in style! As a recent college grad myself I know that sometimes the budget doesn't fit to buy new costumes/outfits for parties so if anyone would like to learn how to make your own feathered accessories and pin up looks just visit www.seecatecreate.wordpress.com ! So FUN!!

I'm currently in high school; other than Halloween, I haven't been to many themed parties yet. I'm looking forward to it! The photo of you and your friends at the Great Gatbsy party is too cute!
