Banana Republic, known for producing "affordable luxury", has long been a mecca for hip, stylish, career-focused women. Their most recent mark has been their Mad Men collection, which had a Missoni for Target kind of response.

The brand, led by designer Simon Kneen, strives to produce clothes that are "modern, soulful, effortless and versatile," according to their website. Their fall 2011 collection fit all those criteria and more, incorporating simple yet chic pieces, worked into stellar ensembles.

Look#1: Stripped Down Stripes

A striped sweater is a simple, basic piece that gets a whole new look when paired with a few unexpected items. Banana Republic spiced up their cream and black striped sweater by adding a fur hat and a bright burgundy bag. The rest of the ensemble is very classic and streamlined - pleated pants, an easy belt, and a shiny bag keep this outfit polished and pretty.

Start rebuilding this striped ensemble with a basic striped sweater. Pair it with some cream colored pants and riding boots. Now that you have the basic foundation, the next step is to jazz it up. Add a fur hat and pair it with a neutral colored scarf, and add some color with a burgundy cross-body bag. Finish the look off with a sleek gold cuff. This look is absolutely perfect for fall; it's simple enough to be worn to class but stylish enough for a day date.

Look #2: Pop of Purple

With this look, Banana Republic created an ensemble that was both laid back and pulled together at the same time. The leather jacket and slouchy hat gave it a relaxed vibe while the blouse and the pants polished it all up. My favorite part is how Banana Republic gave the look a quirky twist with a pair of purple gloves and a snakeskin bag.

Start simple by pairing a basic white tee with a pair of black pants (they can be trousers or even jeans). Layer on a grey leather jacket and a slouchy camel hat for the laid-back feel, and accessorize with a camel belt and black booties. Add surprise to the outfit with a snakeskin bag and don't forget the finishing touch: purple gloves. This outfit is so versatile - wear it to class, a meeting or lunch with friends and then remove the hat and gloves for the perfect night out ensemble.

Look #3: Winter White

Winter white can be a tricky trend to master, but Banana Republic made it look so easy in this look. Take a tip from Banana by wearing winter white on thick fabrics like wool. Add variation to a simple sweater with a pair of patterned heels or a bag, and use shades of brown and camel for contrast. With these tips, you can easily be rocking the trend in no time.

Start your winter white look with a simple cream sweater. Pair it with an off-white pencil skirt or - if it's colder where you are - try off-white trousers. Accessorize with a camel cross-body bag and scarf. Finally, add some sleek gold bangles and finish the look off with bold leopard print heels. This look would be great for a dressy Thanksgiving with the new boyfriend's parents.
