Ok, so I tried these three looks with my own clothes that looked similar (but think pink instead of red and no aeropostale bag), and I have never gotten so many compliments in one day! Great post! I loved it!

Katie – Thanks for letting me know! Typos happen, unfortunately, and I always have a hard time distinguishing between those two words!

Joc – I have worn skirts under dresses, especially when it starts to get windy. I will sometimes where a white skirt under my favorite spring dress to prevent it from blowing up while I’m walking to class (always embarrassing) – two layers provide a lot more weight against the wind. To make it work, it really depends on the shape of the dress versus the shape of the skirt and if they work together. Check out the Uniform Project – the creator, Sheena, wears skirts under her “uniform” dress all the time!

Hi y’all, great article! Just a reminder: you mean “complementary,” not “complimentary.” The dress isn’t giving you compliments, it’s complementing your style. I’m sorry if it sounds bitchy to write this, it’s just that I keep seeing this over and over on this site — I love this blog so much, so I just thought I’d mention it.

But nice call on that dress, I am so going to try to find that one now! Hopefully the length is totally boots friendly, fingers crossed!

I’m so glad you’re featuring an article like this. I also like to wear a loose dark pull-over sweater on top of a flowy dress like this to make it look like a skirt. Pair it with black tights and a long necklace and you have another class outfit! Also, have you considered the wearing-a-skirt-under-a-dress to mimic layers? I’ve seen it done but am curious how it would work in other outfits.

i like the first 2, but i think the one for the date could lose the scarf and have different shoes(though theyre very cute) i feel like they dont really match as well.
