Four Perfect Holiday Looks Inspired by Blair Waldorf

blair waldorf

After the updated Gossip Girl Fashion series we did last month, it was pretty clear that you all love the style of the GG cast. So with the holidays right around the corner, we’re all looking for a little fashion inspiration to impress our family and friends, and who better to take tips from than the Queen B herself?

Whether you’re staying in with your family, visiting your boyfriend’s parents or heading out at night for a tree lighting – you can look to Blair’s style for outfit ideas. Obviously she has had countless looks over the last four years, but I’ve chosen a few that are simple, classic and easy to recreate on a college-student budget!

New Years Eve Sequins

New Years Eve is one of the most fun dress-up occasions of the year. Sequins, sparkles and shiny accessories are festive and are sure to make you look (and feel!) fabulous all night long.

Blair always rocks her signature headband, and this look is no exception – she created a gorgeous party look by pairing a black sequined dress with an equally sparkly headband. I’ve recreated the look below with a sequined frock, silver headband, basic black pumps, tights, and a shiny necklace.

One tip for pulling off this look: Don’t be afraid to mix and match embellished clothing and accessories – it’s totally okay if you keep the colors neutral, as seen here! By choosing basic colors, you allow the sparkles to be the focus and avoid looking over-the-top.

Sophisticated Jewel Tones

Deep jewel tones are some of the most sophisticated colors you can wear and they’re even more perfect for the holiday season. You can dress up in silky fabrics like Blair, or choose comfy cottons – you’ll look holiday-perfect either way.

This Queen B look in particular channeled the holiday vibe perfectly – Blair, seen below, wore an emerald green blouse tucked into a dark pink satin skirt. The two colors perfectly complement each other and the waist-cinching silhouette is super flattering. To add a little extra sparkle, add a pair of pretty flats or colorful jewelry.

Winter Wonderland

We’d all love to stay curled up by the fire all season, but unfortunately we do have to brave the wind and snow once in a while. Over the last couple weeks, we’ve spotlighted our favorite winter coats, and shown you the best ways to wear them. And, as we’ve told you guys, although coats are almost an outfit themselves, there are ways to accessorize them differently – like using Blair for inspiration!

In true Upper-East-Sider fashion, Blair kept her winter day look classic, rocking a plaid coat, practical dark boots and a cozy cream colored scarf. But the Queen B always has to stand out in a crowd, so an embellished maroon hat and a bright red bag ensure that she won’t blend in with everyone else. So take inspiration from Blair and don’t be afraid to mix classic pieces with trendy items.

Girly Lace

This look is perfect for a family dinner or a holiday party with your girlfriends. The lace and cream colors are feminine and a vintage flair to them. As with the first look, choosing neutral colors like creams and blacks really let the fabric textures and embellishments shine through.

Although every piece of Blair’s ensemble is intricate and impressive on its own, it’s easy to get her look without investing a ton of money. Although the white lace dress is the main focus, a cream colored top with lace trim also gives the same girly vibe. Underneath, you can go for patterned tights, or stick with classic black – it all depends on the occasion and your personal style!

Tying it All Together

The next few weeks are all about being with family and friends. Whether you see them all the time or only once a year, the holidays are a great time to look your best and celebrate being around those who are special to you. Okay, and the holidays also give you a perfect excuse to dress up.

Blair’s Gossip Girl style has been a popular topic on College Fashion for years – and for a good reason! She always look classy, chic and sophisticated while still dressing her age. Her looks are the perfect inspiration for any event that you have over the next few weeks.

Your thoughts?

So, what do you think of the looks? Do you like Blair’s style for the holidays? What do you plan on wearing for parties and get-togethers in the next few weeks? We want to hear from you! Be sure to leave a comment.

Spot on! I love Blair’s style. I like that you included a headband in each outfit– it wouldn’t be inspired by Blair without it.

The last look of Blair’s you featured is probably the most covetted in GG history. I feel that this article was great, but ASOS once carried a dress closer to the one you chose (might be sold out now). Just a tip!

Lace has been my obsession since this spring so I couldn’t be more in love with the last outfit. Blair used to be too preppy for me but her style evolved in an more sophisticated way so I would actually try all of the 4 looks. Good choices!
