I wholeheartedly agree.
I recently needed to replace a pair of black heels. I first went for a cheaper pair from DWS (Rampage brand Hallee pumps in black) which I purchased for $39. In less than a week's time, the rubber backed heel had broken off, they were scuffed, and already the synthetic leather-like material was rubbing off in places. I only wore them to the office twice, one date night, and church, so I was pretty shocked that they would be that poorly made and get trashed that quickly with such minimal wear!

I actually remembered reading this post a while back, and decided to invest. I ended up buying a pair of Cole Haan peep-toes (the Carma OT air, to be exact) in black leather. They are amazing!!!!!!!! The best part - I found them at Marshall's this week marked way, way down. So not only did I get great designer shoes that will last, but I got them for a steal. win-win.

I think one pair of wear-with-everything shoes is a difficult concept. But saying that I am one of those people with over 50 pairs of shoes, but I do lack one pair of black heels that will go with everything.
I have shoe boots, gladiator sandals, mary janes but strangely enough I do find such choice restricting.
As lovely as the pair you've chosen are, I think for girls like me who need a lot of variety I'd rather have 4 pairs of £50 shoes than one pair for £200. I don't know if I'd be comfortable going out in shoes (which invariably get scuffed after every night out) that I know have cost me over a month's pay from my bar job!!
Also, I do actually own a pair of 6 inch heels, but the absolutely cripple my feet, and even though i'm only 5'5" they're a bit impractical!!
I'd love to be one of those girls who can wear heels every day but unfortunately I'm still weaning myself onto them!! I think in school and university though the girls who wear heels in the day time always look like they're trying too hard!! When i have a full time job though I think i'd like to be able to wear heels every day.
I do like this post, but I do think the shoes are a bit too high, a bit too restrictive in style and a little impractical!! I would prefer to see a choice of black heels more suitable for everyone.

i suggest looking at nordstrom rack for higher end heels for a cheaper price. i bought a pair of jessica simpson heels normally 90 bucks for 35 there because someone bought them at the regular nordstrom, wore them, then returned them and nordstrom refurbished the bottoms and shipped them off to nordstrom rack. theyre the best heels i own

I'm pretty sure I would get fired if I showed up to work in platform, peep-toed heels like those. I don't know where you work, but at my job, peep-toe shoes and heels that high are against the dress code.

I agree every woman should have a pair of black pumps but like many others said these aren't the ones for me. The perfect pair of black heels should be comfortable, versatile, and timeless. I think its one of those things that are hard to find like the perfect mascara or something.
If I had the money I'd get this:
http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/3064463/0~6006558~6007166~6007167?mediumthumbnail=Y&origin=category&searchtype=&pbo=6007167&P=3

But until that happens- I'll probably stick with some Steve Maddens I got on sale.
