Did you seriously call bigger girls "curvy"?

Curvy means more hourglass-shaped, NOT a li'l bit larger than normal - not saying being bigger's bad, but do people have to use a word that meant having a small waist in comparison to your bust and hips? orz

I love it, and i completely agree with you! You shouldn't let other people tell you what you can and can't wear! It's completely ridiculous to let others control or affect you! I tell my best friend all THE time to wear THE things she likes, that fit well so that she feels great. Cause thats the only thing that matters in fashion.

I LOVED ths article!
I gess it's the best thing I ever read about body tpes!
When people start talking about, it always comes to: thin girls can wear anything. If you're not thn, just buy something loose and wear it.
I lov how you talked about. I think the world needs more people like you!

I agree that some general rules should be followed such as getting a great fit (don't be afraid to get it tailored!) and proportion is key. But certain rules other websites and experts give are too narrow and restrictive for most. Most women I know are not only petite, curvy, skinny, tall, apple or pear shaped but a combination of several attributes. For example, I am short, with a large upper body, a bit of a tummy and tiny lower half. Petite tops and dresses fit great on me, but I have to get regular bottoms! I had to figure my own rules about what works for me. I think it is helpful to read some general rules about fashion and body type but not to take things too seriously and to just try on different styles and clothing to learn what looks good on you. My only other advice about fit would be to not get too obsessed about size. I can fit into anything from an extra-extra small, to a size 0, up to a size 4. Buy what fits you the best and tailor the rest!

i really like the advice in this post. i'm on the thin side and i think all of these tips can be useful. i think it's really more about what you put into clothes, how you use them. to have them not have them wear you.

This is a great post! There are things out there that everybody thinks they need but which don't suit them at all, and people should really have the confidence to wear what fits, and looks natural and comfortable. For example, I'm quite a curvy hourglass shape, which I must say I LOVE!!!! - but it does make skinny jeans very hard to find, because they are designed for girls who are straight up and down. If I get one size, they won't pull up over my thighs and hips, but if I get the next one up then they're way too big around my middle.

So although I own a pair of skinny jeans for emergencies, I very rarely wear them, because I know what flatters my shape - and that's what FITS me and what I feel COMFORTABLE in. I always think to myself, "would I be comfortable wearing this to run around in the garden in?" If the answer's that I'd always have to be pulling my top down or trousers up, then I don't wear it, and I go for something more comfortable.

Really, the easiest way to 'dress for your shape' is to wear what you think looks and feels the best. That way, you'll be wearing it with CONFIDENCE, which is the sexiest thing on the market!!

I agree, you can look just as good curvy as any skinnier girl out there. I remember many times seeing a curvier girl and thinking, she looks amazing! Why can't I pull that off? I realized that a person can be sexy at any weight or body shape, they just have to have a good sense of style and confidence. So now Im working on my wardrobe too!
